    The Run Game

I know we pass to set up the run but we should be pounding the ball to 1) be balanced 2) protect Brady 3)help out our O-line 4) run clock and protect our defence. Plus why did we give Fred Taylor 3 mill to play a few plays a game?

Anyone else notice that our short yardage run game on 3rd and 4th down has been a total dud?  It's cost us several 3rd and 4th down conversions so far this season.  We used to always excel at that, right up until our second possession of the Super Bowl (not sure about last year ... it's still kind of a blurr).  What gives?

Our running game has been horendous since Corey Dillon left.  Anyone of those backs taken in 06 would've been better than Maroney.  Imagine if we had Jones-Drew?  Or Deangelo Williams?  Or Joeseph Addai?  Or even Lendale White?

People say that our running game was like 6th in the league last year but it really didn't seem like it.  We need someone who likes contact and wants to lay the wood.  Our offense is too finess and just not aggressive enough when it comes to running it down people's throats.  We need that killer attitude.

    Re: The Run Game

To be considered a Superbowl contender, you cant relay on just one aspect of the game like the patriots are favoring. They dont need to be balanced but throwing 71% compared to running 29% of total plays doesnt work. This isnt '07. that was 2 years ago. If we had a good running game we would see more production out of play action passes. That play has been obsolete this season. I strongly consider the patriots drafting a running back in this coming draft during the second round. Kevin Faulk is almost done, Sammy Morris is brittle, Maroneys not a true #1 back, and Fred Taylor is 34 years old. Any running back over 30 years old isnt valuable anymore.

We don't need to draft a back.  Just keep getting good linemen and hire some guy off the street who likes running into people (as opposed to shying away from them).

We should trade our good friend Pioli for an underrated Larry Johnson! LJ could run with any kind of an offensive line. We could get a poor mans Corey Dillion 2004 year out of LJ! Maybe 1200 yards and 9 or 10 tds!

Why isnt BJGE getting an opportunity to carry the ball at least 5 or 6 times. Just a few plays, whats to lose?

That's a point that too many ignore.  Prolific pass-oriented offenses make for great games, and great regular season records.  However, look at the last 20 Superbowl winners and see how many of them won the big game.  There were some great offenses who won, but they were great "balanced" offenses.  The teams are usually just too good later in the playoffs to be one dimensional at anything.

I don't think our pass happy trend will continue though.  We'll find our running game.
