The Saga Continues; Does Gronk play this week ?

I imagine we will hear all week about how we'll he is doing in practice.  Does he come back this week or not?  I'm sure BB will give his patent answer of "he is day to day".

At this point who cares if it is this week or maybe after the bye as long as he gets enough time to be a top fomr by the end of season and into the playoffs.

Amendola and Gronk being out so much has meant devlopment and chemistry of the 3,4,5,6 options that is hugely valuable.

WHO CARES. im so done with this. we are 5-1 w/o him winning two very good games. in a way its good he doesnt play because more rooks will get reps/touches.

Yes, I think the rookies are making huge strides.  Collie looks like he could be a factor also.  If everyone is available for the playoffs, we will have a good arsenal of weapons.  Dobson, despite his drops, is improving and Thompkins certainly has shown flashes of greatness.

Could the Pats have secretely put Gronk on the practice squad?

It was done "secretly"! Rules don't apply!

Re: The Saga Continues; Does Gronk play this week ?

There was some controversy about whether Dr. Andrews, allowed RGIII to go back to the game for 4 more plays after he sprained his knee in the week 14 game against Baltimore and was examined by Andrews in the locker room. He denied that he gave the go ahead, but Shanahan claimed he did.  In any case, RGIII was pretty insistent in going back in. He was limping so badly and was replaced by Cousin, the back up QB after the 4 plays. Andrews had probably re-examined RGIII after the game at some point. RGIII stayed out against Cleveland in week 15, but returned to play in week 16.

When he played Seattle for the wild card round on 1/7, he was wearing a knee brace, but had a slight limp at the beginning of the game. He injured his knee again in the first quarter upon planting his foot in a scramble to the sideline. He was not hit by a Seahawk player. He was examined in the locker room, but returned to the game.  It was not clear who did the examination. His limping was much more pronounced by that point.  RGIII collapsed to the ground early in the fourth quarter when he dropped back to pass. He was not hit by anyone. He had a partial tear of the ACL. He left the game then and had a complete reconstruction surgery of the ACL by Andrews on 1/9.  RGIII said he did not regret his decision to go back into the game and did not blame anyone.

But if it was Andrews who examined him in the locker room at that game, he will likely be very slow in clearing Gronk this time.  The liability of this decision will be much greater given the tension surrounding the situation this time around.

How about keeping him out until the last two games of the season so he has the best chance of being availible for the playoffs. Only earlier if if looks like the PAtriots need wins to make it to the playoffs.

The "saga" is completely media driven BS. He'll play when James Andrews clears him to play. All this crap about trouble among players in the locker room is complete media crap.

Anyone who follows the Pats knows their playoff hopes are greatly aided by a healthy Gronkowski.  If he's still healing and getting back in football shape, I have zero problem.  He's had what, 4 surgeries in the past year?  He will come back and be a difference maker.  They need him come Dec. and Jan.

You play for the playoffs, in 2007 we expended every last resource to go undefeated and it was our undoing at the end of the season.

If in the final two regular season games Gronk is healthy and performing, Leon Washington is returning kicks at a high clip and in general all of our key players are healthy that is the important thing.  We're 5-1, why all the hand wringing...?

It's great the rooks are getting reps early but we can't rely on them too much too soon. They will eventually hit the wall and having them have to go 100% might make the difference of them hitting the wall sooner rather than later. Having Gronk back could delay that result. I actually think against the Jets he'll be back (I can't see BB saying take a week off again against the most hated team and one within our division to take a commending advantage over). But if he's not back by then it has to be Mia.

You summed it up best.  I don't imagine BB is all that upset by it.  I think he is likely seeing the same value that you are.  This couldn't be working out any better if he had planned it himself.

When the Dr clears him and when that nasty hang nail/paper cut thing he has on his pinky finger finally heals is when Gronk will play...not  a second sooner!

Re: The Saga Continues; Does Gronk play this week ?

IMHO, all this is simply the anticipation the fan base of this team is feeling to have Gronk back at some time.  Impatience is ruling the feelings of fans big time!

The team is 5 - 1 without him.  Plus, add all the injuries that have occurred to the offense so far.  If anything, I agree with cyncal... all this has done is make other players on the team step up and perform.  The offense may not be where we'd like to see it given how spoiled we all are from the offense we are used to seeing.  When you are jonesing for 35 - 10 wins and they are not happening, this happens.

Hmm - 3 forearm surgeries and back surgery equal a hang nail on what planet?

At this point, the question is will he play this season. Never a good thing when mommy and daddy get involved.
