Bottom line , this drug should fall into a different class of banned drugs which carries a much lower penalty for 1st offense.

If one guy can take it because of a mental deficiency (prescribed by a doctor ) HE IS GETTING THE SAME ADVANTAGE AS THE GUY WITHOUT THE PRESCRIPTION....!

This is the point ... If it is a ped then the damn prescription doesn't fn matter.  Its stupid.  It makes no sense.
People who have prescriptions are people who have ADD and ADHD their brains do not function the same as a normal brain in terms of concentration they need the adderall to make their brains funtion to a reasonable level. The level to which it enhances individuals is a grey area i'll give you that and it could be unfair this way but without it ADD and ADHD  sufferers find it hard to concentrate to a degree required to learn.

I have a sister of my own's who's first hand proof

let's talk about NFL football players, not regular people.  A football player regardless of a mental deficiency should not take a ped... Period.

if he's slow, too bad , deal with it.  Drugs peds are not allowed for anyone.  That is the only way this makes sense if you call it a ped.
It does not have the same effect on a person with the affliction as one without.  It merely brings the "slow" person up to a reasonable cognative level.  Most people that take it have been diagnosed early in life and have been taking it prior to the NFl.  Of course there are exceptions but this relatively new drug is normally started when kids have problems in school.

The problem is the people who don't need it are abusing it.   Not the people who actually need it.
That doesn't mean it's a physical advantage on the field of competition.

People abuse many things, it doesn't translate into an advantage which is what PED banishment is about, sir.

    Get it?
No I don't get it because Adderall IS CONSIDERED A PED BY EVERY SPORTS ORGANIZATION in the US and abroad because it provides an advantage over those who do not abuse it  and it is being illegally abused.  If not, then lets just pass it out to everyone with their juice in the morning.  Just give it to every player on every team, you dope!

IT"S A FREAKEN PED!  If you don't like it write your congressman and Obama and Goodell and Aiello and get it changed, but for now, It's a PED and has been officially in the NFL since 2006.

You cannot win here so just give it up.  YOU COULDN"T BE MORE WRONG!

So, the NFL looking to protect itself from lawsuits means that drug is a PED like steroids? Sure about that?

Again, exclamation points and capital letters won't make your ill-informed statements somehow magically correct. lol

Colorado, Washington, etc, just legalized marijuana because they had to correct legislators. Read up, nimrod.
The NFL nor any Sports organization doesn't give a flip about any lawsuit where it's participants are taking the drug without a prescription. It has no bearing on them what-so-ever!

Who the he11 is going to get sued?   The league?  Are the makers going to sue the NFL for not allowing their players to take it illegally???????  Are the players going to sue because the bad NFL won't let them have an advantage?  Who CRUSTY?

They sure as he11 could get sued if they allowed players to take drugs illegally.  But that's about it.  Are you saying they should allow illegal drugs?

Only in your world where bad is good and good is bad.  That seems to be your interpretation of everything.

"€œAdderall is a stimulant, a€ NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Tampa Bay Times this week. Adderall has been on the performance-enhancing list since 2006 and on the substance-abuse list prior to that. Players can receive a therapeutic use exemption with prior permission from a doctor."€

    Also

NSAC executive director Keith Kizer did not allow a fighter to fight due to testing positive for Adderall in his system.  Talking about Adderall, Kizer say " it can have a performance-enhancing effect as well."

So Neal Page, to support my arument for Adderall to be classified as a PED, there is a quote from tht NFL and one from The Nevada Sate Athletic Commission.  Are they wrong?

I just re-read this again...."Hitting a wall" is a figure of speech to describe you feel after something, not the rate at which it happens.

Please tell me you are at least somewhat embarrassed that you don't know what the phrase "hitting the wall" means?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitting_the_wall

In endurance sports such as cycling and running, hitting the wall or the bonk describes a condition caused by the depletion of glycogen stores in the liver and muscles, which manifests itself by sudden fatigue and loss of energy.

Ok Neal Page, who looks foolish now.  You do not hit a wall when taking Adderall.  "About six hours after taking the drug, I would feel slightly groggy, the way I sometimes get in the early afternoon when my morning coffee wears off"

Once again Neal Page, you have been proven wrong.

rusty you dont know anything about adderall.

im a chef and usually keep some around for nights we are going to get rocked.  its not like coffee, or red bull or any of that crap, and it doesnt give you a buzz.  its a cocktail of several mild amphetamines that affect multiple receptors in a precise way which raises dopamine levels.  the stimulant effect is minor, almost neglible.  the main effect is from the dopamine, which increases focus, concentration, and general cognitive function.  its a PED if there ever was one.

How can a player take a banned substance by way of a prescription...?

Latest is player accidentally drinking from adderall laced water bottle from player who legally can take it.

    What...?

Suspending players FOUR GAMES (4 x game check $$$$$??) for a legal substance given by a doctor for non p.e.d. reasons...?

NFL begging for another lawsuit...  Goodell please remove your head from your a$$$...

Go to any youth sporting events lately? It's funny how a group of 8-12 year olds bring their own water bottles and make sure no one else drinks from them. Or, if there are group bottles (a la Pop Warner), the coaches or Team Mommy/Daddy handle/control that. This is practically pounded into them by Mommy and Daddy. Don't want the little tyke getting sick via some stranger's germs! Yet, you're perfectly happy accepting this "excuse" from a grown up (allegedly, anyway) pro athlete, who surely OUGHT to know better.  ROFLMFAO!!! These guys are as dumb as they want you to believe they are. What about the two Seahawk CB's that got busted? Drinking from the same bottle too? Believe their story? How about how talking heads are defending them, via "go to any college campus during exams and see students taking it, even if not perscribed it.." Funny how they gloss over the simple fact that the drug WASN'T PESCRIBED TO EITHER ONE OF THEM!!!!! Sure, some player take it, but need NFL approval first. It is, after all, a BANNED substance.

Just one 'd love to see a busted pro athlete stand up, raise his right hand,a nd take full and complete responsibility for his actions in a news conference setting, while explaining why he did what he did. Just once........ Christmas IS coming.......

Follow the NBA? Check out the bad ball being played? Read box scores? Team scores 125 on Tuesday, and can't get to 80 on Friday. What's up with that?

Oh, yeah.... smoking pot is NOT a violation in the NBA collective bargaining agreement. Funny, huh?

So taking a ped is ok with a prescription ...?

Giving mentally deficient player adderal ( ped) is the same as giving skinny player steroids (ped).  OR... its not REALLY a ped and this whole NFL charade is just hurting the game and the players.

The fact that you can get a prescription for it proves it should be in a different class and (at least) penalized less.

I read a NYTimes article about a school that was giving adderal to ALL kids to improve learning.  (not to play football...
