…..If we just get rid of the two Fire Hydrants we currently have at Safety and Arrington.

    Those 3 guys absolutely stink.

Agree, hopefully BB can address that with the upcoming draft or get a top FA or two.

With all the injuries the defense has answered the bell this season. Which team ever got this deep into the playoffs with a cast of rookies playing?

Gregory has to go. He is always late in cover 2 coverage and he can't cover any TE's in this league. Collins last night was stride for stride last night with the TE when he had man coverage and on one play he actually covered the slot receiver.

I’m telling you kp, it’s Amazing how people will defend Mayo till the end (which is now).  We are excelling without the fat, old and slow bodies in the lineup.

You just made me go lightheaded.  Honestly this team would be a historically great defense with that scenario and put absolute fear in opponents.  If we can get everyone healthy next year and just make a key aquistion or two in the draft and FA, there you go.

    Wow....

Wilfork makes this D better. Period. To think differently is beyond ignorant. WELL beyond.

Mayo is a SOLID player. He does a VERY GOOD job as MLB. People praising Collins and condemning Mayo...you realize Collins didn't play MLB, right? Fletcher did a lot. Hightower also did some. Mayo is rarely out of position, rarely misses tackles...he also doesn't make any 'special' type plays. Hes solid. To complain about him is silly and very nit-picky.

As good as the D looked yesterday, it's like you guys forgot how much BETTER they looked early on before the cascade of injuries took hold.

Indy had to pass ALL GAME, and completed, what, 2 deep balls? And people whine and complain. Un-fking-real.

Some people won't be happy until Lott and Reed are at S, and Law and Deion Sanders are at CB. No...then these same people would complain that Deion doesn't tackle, and Lott takes too many penalties.

I disagree.  This current run proves the fat, slow, clog the line D lineman is expendable.

You need the big, fast, athletic D lineman who can get after it.  Plain and simple.

Sort of agree. But the DL and LBs go together. Given how much of a passing league this is I tend to agree. I prefer faster guys. However when the weather turns cold or up against a marshawn lynch, Vince comes in handy as does mayo.

You have that wrong, even with Lott, Reed, Deon and Law , all in their primes, they would still be complaining and calling them all busts! They would be saying BB never should have gotten them on the team cause none of them can cover.

I agree that big, fast, athletic D is the way to go... but I don't see any of the good teams with out a mountain run clogger in the center.  We can argue which ones are more athletic but guys like wilfork, red bryant, ect  do help teams out.  If next year BB drop wilfork becuase he costs to much or his injury isn't healing well so be it, but I still think it is key to have one guy who demands double teams at times and can cover two gap.  This style help the athletic dt and de be able to  get after it without a having to worry about the middle as much.

Anyone who thinks Mayo or Wilfork is underrated should go back to playing legos and coloring books and leave football watching to the adults.  Both are absolutely stellar players that make our defense better.  Just because we are playing well without them doesn't mean we wouldn't be that much better with them.  Maybe they've both been gone long enough for some short term memory suffering people to have forgotten.  Here's a refresher.

You need one big behemouth in a 3-4 D and two big dudes in a 4-3 they dont have to be fat just big enough to hold their gaps. Wilfork is one of the best NT in the game and if you think he's slow for his size you just don't watch close enough!

Now to say if he will still be worht his cap hit coming off his injury thats another debate.

I'm not going to spit on ANY current Patriots, but this lineup is getting at the QB at a rate the other lineup did not for years.  Would they do it better with the Fork?  Don't know.  Mayo?  He's solid, but still I don't see them being that bad without him.  I do believe Siliga has opened some eyes and I think the team will need cap space badly, so it just may be trade time for a few guys.  Ridley is one of them for sure.  Wilfork too.  Mayo?  Hey, it's the Patriots.  They NEVER do what I think they will do anyway.

Dragon, he ignores that beause what actually happens has nothing to do with his statements. This is the personality that brought us, "mayo sucks, nink sucks, spikes sucks, dmc sucks, etc. Etc. While Mayo is , lauded by polian as the best mlb in the game, and dmc is the leader in the secondary and at the bue week dmc graded out as tye number 1 safety in all of football! Lol.. Only today Reiss wrote an article on dmc being the leading candidate for a contract extension in the off season. nink only lead the team in qb pressures with a dozen more then chandler while supporting the run very well as always.

We all saw how bad the D suffered when vw and mayo went down.

Patriots rookie OLB/DE Jamie Collins played all 66 defensive snaps in Saturday's Divisional Round win over the Colts.

Collins, the 52nd pick in April's draft, had played all of 368 snaps in the 16 regular-season games. With MLB Brandon Spikes (knee) sent to injured reserve last week, the Patriots needed a linebacker to step up. Collins did just that. He recorded six tackles (two for loss), a sack, an interception, and three quarterback hits. The interception was about 20 yards downfield and was a display of Collins' extreme versatility and athleticism that made him a second-round pick.
