    Re: This is outrageous!

Signing Al was a no brainer.  He was bascially playing for free so in essence ths Pats were playing with house money.  Had he been effective then great.  And if he's a problem, then simply cut him.

But I agree, BB has had a less than stellar record signing DL.  He's been pretty good at finding OL and TEs, but he's been a little thin on the defensive side of the ball.

Haynesworth was once the best DT in teh game and was still fairly young. Don't try to make it as if he was just some JAG.

The cost and risk was minimal as in the picks were minimal and his contract was extremely team friendly. If he acted up (like he did) they wash their hands of him without much damage, however, if he worked out like Dillion and when Moss first got here then it's a huge steal. It's a extremely low risk with very high upside move that all teams try to make at one point or another. This one just didn't work out.

Better this then to trading a ton of draft picks to grab a QB who is in the bottom 3rd starting QB's in the game or a LB that couldn't get a single sack to kick in a multi million dollar bonus.

King has been telling us all since the day Albert was signed what a great move this was because nobody resurrects careers like Bill and all players play better for Bill than they do anywhere else, before or after.  Week in and week out, he has told us how much of an impact that Fat Albert has made.  He has claimed that the Patriots are great against the run and are pressuring the QBs far better than last year.  King continued to justify Belichick ignoring the deepest DL draft in a decade while signing has-beens like Fat Al & Ellis to complete his rebuilding of this team.  How can this be that he was so very wrong about this one?  He was right on with every other post.  Like the one about how great Bodden was and such a huge value and that McCourty was as good as Revis.  Let's not forget the continued saga of the defensive problems being the fault of Tom Brady.  Also, the assertions that giving up more yards than any other team is irrelevant and has nothing do do with the quality of the defense.  How is it possible that he could have missed this one small piece about Albert?

Apparently He was right about you being phat rex/whodingy because according to your first post, you've only been here 6 days.  (telling us since the day it happened).  You are not one of us nor could you have been told that since you've only been here a week.  Right?  Exposed much!!

Folks need to give up the "haynesworth was free" takes.  He cost the team money, a draft pick, and a roster spot for more than half the season.

OMG, priceless!!!  Did he cost the team $20m, and another $4m for a replacement that was too old to get on the field, and a waste of a roster spot for a guy that sits in the booth.   BAWAHHHAAAA

Haynesworth was low risk, with a possible upside.  Didn't work out but you can't fault the logic.  Move coincides with getting some bodies back on the D-Line.  Haynesworth may have played his last ball.

    Re: This is outrageous!

Not all gambles work out. I'd do the move all over again if it presented itself in another player with Haynes potential. It really was a no brainer.

I think we drafted well last year. I have no complaints.

I liked the Ocho signing as well. It looks like a total failure also but that's what happens sometimes. Can't do much about that.

The secondary is really the issue with this team. You have a legit complaint on how we have drafted in the secondary over the years. We have hit on 2 guys worth taking McCourty and Chung. Everyone else has been a fail. It looks like Ras is a complete fail as well unfortunately.

Wow, who said Haynesworth WASN'T good at the time of the signing.  Folks saids he needed to be in a more positive environment comared to DC.  Well, it just turns out for all his bluster to be on a winning team hasn't changed his attitude.  Still making millions of guaranteed dollars and he doesn't have to prove himself to get paid!

You're right, apples to oranges.  $90m and a lost roster spot compared to $1m and a lost roster spot.  One is ridiculous and the other is not.
