I don't know much about Underwood. But he can fly. He ran a 4.31 at combine.

So we have a Woodhead, and now  an Underwood. Can we get a player named Morningwood? And make it a perfect triangle.

    [QUOTE]Any theories why?

Perhaps BB saw something in the way he played against the PATS.

BB always liked the way a certain little-known Dolphin receiver played against the PATS, and now he is arguably the PATS best receiver.  Need I name him.

Also, if this kid has the speed that an earlier post referred to, perhaps it is a harbinger of the eventual release of Tate with Underwood projected for kickoff return duty and the potential speed burner receiver to stretch the field.

    You did ask for theories.

Now with Sanders gone they might only carry 4 S's. That leaves room to carry 6 WR's so maybe they brought in Underwood to light a fire under Tate's butt and if Tate doesn't improve as a replacement. They are both extremely similiar types of WR's

he did do quite well last season playing for the jags, and he does have the 4.31 speed, so could be a good theory! here is what BDC has on him:

He is a 6-1 and 183-pound receiver who played at Rutgers and then played two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here is more information courtesy of the Patriots:

He was released by Jacksonville on August 25, 2011. Underwood originally entered the NFL as a seventh round draft choice (253rd overall) by Jacksonville in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Rutgers. After beginning his rookie season on the practice squad, he joined the 53-man roster and appeared in three games, mainly on special teams. Last season, he played in 10 games and caught eight passes for 111 yards and returned 24 kicks for 561 yards, including a career-long of 53 yards in the season-opener vs. Denver (9/12).

There is a good chance this guy won't be around when the season starts. They might just want to give him a look and if they don't like they can cut him lose in the next round of cuts. It doesn't cost much with the way contracts go in the NFL.

This is due dilligence! 4.31 in a 40 will get you a lot of looks in the NFL. Besides he is a Rutgers alum so he has friends on the roster..

Really excited-BB will cut him in under a week like he did to Mills and many others-BB  IS a mad genius. Cannot figure out why he signs guys and cuts them in a week-he does this regurely. Only explanation is he needs bodies in camp to simulate certain plays to scrimmage against?
