    Today it happened

Today, while reading all the usual info of the day, I got a gut feeling that this is the day. This is the day that I sense the burnish needs buffing. The NFL and NFLPA - and everyone else involved in the branding of the sport - have taken America too far. We have reached the top of the bell, and our interest in you is on the down side.

Bad timing too, because we are entering the time of year when we naturally think less often of football. So now as we start to drift naturally away, our most recent memories are about schisms and "I am poorer than you" cr@p between billionaires and millionaires and some other folk.

I think they better fix things very quickly, or they'll be spending more than anticipated on marketing.

    Waddaya think?

I think I'm already beyond that point...  I used to be on here 5x a day. scouring draft boards and everything else.  Now I'm just glad that college decided to play on Sat and Sunday.  I've NEVER been less interested in the draft than I am this year.

Well, all I can say is the actions of the NFL and the players really do say it is all about themselves and not how to satisfy their high paying constituancy, AKA - The FANS.  Not one peep about how to make attending a game MORE affordable for the average fan, who makes up the bulk of the support these teams have.  As long as there is DirecTV and DVRs, I can enjoy the game on my 46" Sonyand not spend hundreds going to a game.

in my heart of hearts, I think the season is gonna happen.  That being said, I also believe the Owners will VERY MUCH play hardball...  give up one season if they need to be able to keep more profits from their companies.  I get it.  I understand it.  That being said, it doesn't make me happy.

I LOVE football.  It's my one real passtime (outside of porn lol), so I'm just moving right down the line and will watch college.  I'll even try to make it out to a couple of HS games this year.  Football is football.

I get where some people won't agree with me because the players aren't as big, aren't as fast and aren't as talented, but taking out HGH will make the pro's look like college kids and the college kids look like HS kids... So I guess I'm gearing up for that, too.

I for one consider every other sport to be the preliminaries to the NFL season.

Bell curves are a funny thing because ya never ever know exactly where the resta the class is gonna be on 'em.  So, no matter how well you study and how well you take the test, really- you can end up anywhere grade-wise.  You'll never find more mixed feelings than what'cha do with a bell-curve...  And when a teacher SAYS, "We're grading this one on a curve."  You can bet'chure #ss of these 2 things:  #1 Everyone in the first class already failed it...and there had to be at least 1 smart person in there, so you're target grade is now A through F...each being a distinct possibility, BECAUSE= #2 The teacher has UTTERLY failed to translate 1 single thing about what he actually TAUGHT you in any class, to the final Test itself (in this situation, chances are the teacher eitther svx, the test is all obscure details from the textbook alone, or the test has been grandfathered in from another professor who created this test in 1973).

Yup, tricky ill-to-define things, those bell-curves... Also, noone has any real good bell-curve jokes, so that's why this thread took so long ta take off...  Crazy, crazy bell-curves.

I suspect that the players and the owners have NO worries where the fans are concerned.  Once they come back, the fans will too, IMO.

Well, the players may have some worries, if more of them are arrested.  Seems like one a day is getting busted or bad press somewhere.  One would think that as adults they would be on their best behavior but apparently not, which brings forth the question, are they really adults?

And I was prepared to congratulate you on losing your virginity... oh well :/

2012 - evidently it's supposed to be this great awakening.  Maybe people will see the bailouts, the campaign financing, the lobbyists, the pollution, the redistribution of wealth to the rich, the "advanced financial products," and two professional sports (NFL & NBA) locking out and realize how bass-ackwards it all is and take a stand to change things for real.

    Or maybe pigs will fly...

But for now, same sh*t, different day.

Both sides are looking dumber by the day.  Hopefully the mediator can work things out and force a binding agreement behind closed doors so this can end
