Tom Brady day 12/12/12 named AFC offensive player of the week

    From ESPNBoston.com:

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following his strong performance in Monday night's victory over the Texans.

That the award for No. 12 comes on "12-12-12" is an added bonus (insert laugh).

Brady was 21 of 35 for 296 yards, with four touchdowns and no interceptions in Monday's 42-14 win. He added one rush for six yards, which produced a first down and sparked an "M-V-P!" chant from the home crowd.

This is Brady's 23rd AFC Offensive Player of the Week Award, which sets a new NFL record, surpassing Peyton Manning.

Well deserved honor for the best quarterback of all time.  He shredded the league's number 1 third down defense - converting on 50% of 3rd downs, close to the Pats' own league best 52% conversion rate.

UD?  Your comment on another area in which Brady surpasses Manning?

If Brady is going to challenge for the MVP this is a game he will have to play big. Manning has the built in advantage of coming back from injury and playing on a new team (2 reasonably meaningful impediments to overcome in terms of impressing.... but one could also argue that MVP is not a measure of exceeding expectation).
