Top 5 Favorite Patriots (not named Brady)

I am most curious as to who is everyone's 5 favorite current players.  Brady is an obvious choice so lets not put him on the list.  Who you got?

You mean favorite current players right--i.e., guys on the team now?  And favorite is not quite the same as best.  It's a funny question because so many of the guys are new.  Welker and Wilfork stand out as two obvious ones for most fans--since they're good players, they're likable, hardworking, and they've been around long enough so we know them.  After that it gets kind of hard to pick favorites.  One guy I might put on my list is Gary Guyton.  Anytime an undrafted guy works his way into the starting lineup, you gotta like that.  And I know he's not a perfect LB, but he's a smart, hardworking player, who's done pretty well given his imperfect mix of skills. So I tend to root for him.  Vollmer is another guy I like to watch, because he's got such potential and he's from a country where they don't even play American football. Neal too, gets a nod, because he came from a different sport and did well.  And maybe Arrington--just because he's such a good special teams guy, and I'm hoping he turns out to prove he can play corner.

So that's a weird list--no guys like Bruschi or Harrison who would have been obvious a few years ago.  But we're rebuilding--not just the team, but our loyalties and favorites too.

Re: Top 5 Favorite Patriots (not named Brady)

Prolate makes a very good point. There's been so much turnover on the team there hasn't been a lot of time for some of the new guys to make a realistic impression. I've got a feeling I'm going to like McCourty an awful lot, and Hernandez is looking like he may become something special. I don't want this thread to go too far without somebody mentioning Dan Connelly. To me, he epitomizes what a team is all about. He did his work and bided his time and when his chance came, he seized it. I also like Vollmer a lot. And, of course, who doesn't love the backup quarterback?

If I can have six, I'd also throw Zoltan Mesko in the mix, just because he's got a cool name and he wears 14.

I keep wondering what Belichick (great defensive mind) would have done with a player like Tippet. From a positional standpoint Hannah, it could be argued, was the best Patriot player until Brady came along.

    2. Wes Welker.  Because he is so small and tough and F'ing awesome.
    3. Pat Chung.  Been excited about him since the day they drafted him :)
    4. Kevin Faulk (Remember he's still a current Patriot!)
    5. Jerod Mayo.  He's back in beast form again.

    Chung-kid is a missille
    Welker-best slot WR ever.
    Hernandez-kid is a matchup nightmare
Tate-heres to hoping he step up and take Moss' place.
Mayo-say what you want to say but being third in the league in tackles is getting it done as a MLB.

All time would have to be Brown, Harrison, Faulk, Brushi, Bledsoe.
