    According to PFT - "The league conducted a three-week investigation, and found the towels were widely used and gave no competitive advantage.

     

    Sounds like what we heard about spygate. But we didn't get a measly $20K fine.

    Was there a prior rule specifically stating that towels could not be used at various parts of the field? If so, please provide link.

    a few weeks ago they found a sticky substance on a towel used by SD staff/players specifically the WR's

    The NFL has rules about sticky substances. Apparently the towels do violate something since they are now banned from gameday use.
