It depends on the gaurenteed $$$$ and how the cap is impacted...he must be healthy...if he is, VW retires a Pat! And that's a good thing!

RapSheet: Vince Wilfork’s new deal is for 3 years, averaging $7.5M per year. So, 3 years, $22.5M. $3M is guaranteed..    : )
Karen Guregian (@kguregian)   Source: Pats and Wilfork close to one yr deal with ability to earn $8 mil. with $3 mil. guaranteed plus option aver. $7.5 mil. on 3-yr deal   The key is $ 3 mil guaranteed
Cap # is down...still not alot to spend..this probably means no more vet signings before the start of camp unless they restructure more guys or let a couple, like Wilson, go.....but future years won't be hamstrung....incentive laden contract that sounds alot like a one year deal because they will have a lot to say about whether he reaches big $$ incentives....workout and weight bonuses are included...options also available to the team...VW got a pretty big cut, it appears

Vince Wilfork's new deal with Patriots really is a one-year, $8M deal that includes $3M guaranteed and deal has an option for 2 more years.

Sounds good and looks like Vince will retire a Patriot. Will wait until  a done deal is confirmed and the deets come out to assess how Vince's contract #'s play out for the cap.

Great news though now they probably won't draft Hageman even if he is available at 29.

Let's cross our fingers that VW stays healthy.

I wouldn't say that. Kelly and WIlfork won't be around forever and Jones, Vellano, and Silga were alright but not starter caliber. BB tends to play against the strength of the draft and DT isn't a strength. Not to mention Hageman has Watt type of upside and you know how BB has drooled over his measurables. I'd say there is still a good shot at Hageman, Tuitt, Nix, or D. Jones in this draft

I wouldn't necessarily say that...even with VW, and even if he's healthy (that's a huge "if" - no pun intended - because it usually takes a normal person 12 full months to fully heal from an achilles), they desperately need to add quality youth at the position.

    rkarp strikes again.

So where is everyone calling Wilfork greedy, washed up, and old now? It appears the Pats were willing to give him close to what he was going to make this year regardless so they must think differently

Glad to hear Vince will be back.  One less thing to worry about in the short term if he's healthy.  This has the makings of a good D if VW and Kelly can be 70-80% of their former selves.

I am not so excited, They will have to get a whole player from Vince and Kelly,

With Siliga and jones. I just don't see him coming back from the injury at a high level, think they could do more with other FAs, 7,5 is too much for him

I have not seen details, but Schefter said it is 1/$8 with 2 options on years

Schefter also said Vince could have seen more on the open market....didn't say who.
