VJ possible Trade from 2 sources?

This was on profootball talk, from MIKE FLORIO

So with receiver Randy Moss shipped from New England to Minnesota, the Patriots could use a receiver.

And amid reports that the Pats could be pulling a Randy Moss with Deion Branch, whom they traded away in 2006 and could re-acquire from the Seahawks, Tom Curran of CSNNE.com reports that the Patriots have "looked into the possibility" of trading for Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson.

Per Curran, preliminary discussions have involved the possibility of Jackson, an unsigned restricted free agent, being swapped for holdout guard Logan Mankins, another unsigned restricted free agent.

The asking price, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune (via Curran) is a second-round pick and a third-round pick for an NFC team, and a first-round pick and a second-round pick for an AFC team.

Curiously, any team could have signed Jackson to an offer sheet in March and April, giving up only a first-round pick and a third-round pick as compensation, if the Chargers had opted not to match.

There are way more sources that have shot this down then there are places that think there is even a remote chance of this happeneing.

I have also read rumors that when Merriman is healthy he will be cut. Would Mankins and say a 2nd in 2012 Get us Jackson & Merriman. The better question is does BB want Merriman.

You people just don't get it.

We're not trading for another WR. We already filled Moss' spot with Ojinaka. Keep this in Madden, in reality, it won't happen.

coming from an SD fan, no way this happens...#1 the chargers don't need mankins, they already have 2 quality guards...#2 the chargers would have to sign v-jax before they could trade him, which will be extremely difficult...#3 v-jax would still have to serve a 3 game suspension after being traded, so where's the value for the pats if they have to give up mankins and draft picks, when they can just wait until the offseason to sign v-jax as a free agent...the pats should've went after marshall last offseason...

If traded V-Jax doesn't have to serve a three game suspension

    http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/oct/06/vj-patriots-not-likely-not-impossible/

In this article the writer states:

"...The NFL trading deadline is Oct. 19. Any team trading for Jackson would have to wait three games after he signed for him to come off the Roster Exempt List. That means if he signed before this Sunday, he would not be eligible to play until the week after the Patriots' Oct. 24 game in San Diego."

So that leaves us 10 games he would be eligible to play this season. Is he worth it or is the chemistry better without him?  BB can make the deal--he has the picks it will require.

Not to get all technical, but that's just one alleged "source."  Florio is just reporting what Curran said, he's not corroborating it.

Wow, too much for him.  San Diego can keep him for that price.

    +1

Picking up McCourty, Hernandez, Gronkowski, Mesko, Spikes, and Cunningham has been huge for 2010!  We haven't even see what Price can do.  Of course, there's Tate, Vollmer, and Chung from the year prior.

Plugging in a few more out of the 8 picks in the first 4 rounds should be quite a compliment.  In addition, there's the Mankins pieces that can be added to the (overall) equasion.

They key? It's getting this group to put their potential into play; get some playoff experience; play like winners.  Yeah, I'm bullish on the Pats.  FYI: I'm the same guy who posted the first thread about two years, ago, mentioning that the Pats had not improved; might have gotten worse, whilst a few competing teams made improvements.  (I also picked the Ray to win the AL East in 2010 during the off-season, whilst the clowns predicted 95 automatic wins.)  I'm just puttin' it down...and I like where this (Patriots) group is going.

My hope is that this current (2010) group can get some serious play-off experience whcih would get them hungrier for the next tournament...if they don't manage to win the last game.

The Lord of no rings is dilusional if he thinks any AFC team is giving up a 1 and a 2 for the (one strike away from a year suspension) Jackson. MARK MY WORDS, VINCENT JACKSON WILL NEVER PLAY FOR THE PATRIOTS!
