Re: Wanted Tom Brady of 01/03/04 Post Seasons!

He did pretty well in the 07 postseason. Though they lost SB42 he did drive them down for the go ahead score with 3 minutes left. You have to blame the defense for letting the Giants drive down the field for the winning TD. Last year's game was pretty bad, though. The Ravens jumped all over them quickly and they had their worst game of the season. But you cannot lay the loss to the Jests all on Brady. The WRs could not get open, and he had nowhere to go with the ball even when he had all day in the pocket. Surely not his best performance, but certainly not bad enough to lose on his account. Tell me, what QB would you rather have?

Then get him a defense that get's stops...  this offense is what made us 14-2 and maksed our troubles on defense.  Brady is fine.  He threw a terrible pick, and Alge dropped a gimmie which changed the game.  The defense got zero pressure on Sanchez.  But it seems that the defense is going to come around and continue to grow.

The run first only worked when we werent relying on Brady to carry the team. Get Brady a solid back, a solid defense like he had in the super bowl years, and we can take pressure of Brady and he will do better in the postseason. The team relies to much on Brady so when the big games come around if Brady doesnt have an A game we lose. Look at what Ben is doing in Pitt, he has a so-so game and the defense keeps them in it so that Ben can do well at the end. Thats what the Pats need to do, get Brady more help.

Some people fail to realize that a main reason why the Pats did so well early on had more to with the defense than Brady and the offense.

    Here's a recap of the post-season defense in the playoff years . . .
(Points generated reflects actual points scored by the DEF/ST including TD and safeties.)

    2001
    15.7 points allowed per game
    2.3 turnovers per game
7 ppg generated from the DEF/ST
8.7 ppg required from the offense to tie

    2003
    19 points allowed per game
    2.3 turnovers per game
0.7 ppg generated from the DEF/ST
18.3 ppg required from the offense to tie

    2004
    17 points allowed per game
    2.8 turnovers per game
2.3 ppg generated from the DEF/ST
14.7 ppg required from the offense to tie

    2005
    15 points allowed per game
    1.5 turnovers per game
3.5 ppg generated from the DEF/ST
11.5 ppg required from the offense to tie

    2006
    25 points allowed per game
    2.3 turnovers per game
4.7 ppg generated from the DEF/ST
21.3 ppg required from the offense to tie

    2007
    16.3 points allowed per game
    1.7 turnovers per game
0 ppg generated from the DEF/ST
16.3 ppg required from the offense to tie

    2009
    33 points allowed per game
    2 turnovers per game
0 ppg generated from the DEF/ST
33 ppg required from the offense to tie

    2010
    28 points allowed per game
    0 turnovers per game
0 ppg generated from the DEF/ST
28 ppg required from the offense to tie

The trend has been going in the wrong direction in that the offfense is being asked to do more than they had to in the past, at least in the playoffs.
