    Warrant issued for Hernandez

    http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2013/06/arrest-warrant-aaron-hernandez/66468/

WBZ Radio in Boston is reporting that police have issued an arrest warrant for New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez on a charge of obstruction justice. ABC News backs up that report as well. Hernandez has become the target of a murder investigation after an "associate" of his was found dead on Monday night. He has not been named as suspect and is not being charged with the homicide, but WBZ says the warrant could still be upgraded later.

Officially, investigators have remained quiet about the case, but anonymous law enforcement leaks to local news outlets paint a picture that doesn't look good for Hernandez. Late last night, The Boston Globereported that police found video images that show Hernandez with the victim, Odin Lloyd, in Boston on early Monday morning, shortly before he was killed. That would seem to be more confirmation of an earlier report from FOX25 Boston that the two men were definitely together on the night of the murder. A second video also showed Hernandez in North Attleborough later, the town south of Boston where he lives and where Lloyd's body was found later that day.

News reports also revealed the cause of Lloyd's death, as sources say he was shot multiple times. After originally believing the body had been dumped in an industrial park after he was killed somewhere else, Globe sources now say he was killed where the body was found.

Police began questioning Hernandez almost immediately after Lloyd's body was found on Monday, — Lloyd was reportedly dating the sister of the player's girlfriend — and according to numerous reports he has been uncooperative with police. ABC News reported that Hernandez destroyed his own home surveillance system and gave police a busted cell phone, which could be the source of the obstruction of justice charge. Even if he didn't commit the crime, at the very least he seems to be interfering with a serious investigation. And if all the rumors are true, than he likely knows something about Lloyd's death.

It will be interesting to see what happens.  In some ways, it sounds to me that maybe Hern is trying to protect the real murderer (one of his friends).  But Hern could have done it too.

I increasingly doubt Hern plays this year . . .

Accessory and obstruction of justice are two different charges.

Ray Lewis got rhrough the obstruction of justice charge ok I'd say.

Hernandez football career isn't over - yet. His Pats career may well be.

God bless America ! Guilty without even holding a trial! No evidence has been produced to even come close to a Grand jury inquiry, yet you dumb clucks already have Hernandez serving life! Please don't any of you who have predetermined the fate of Hernandez move to my neighborhood.

As it stands, it doesn't really matter if he pulled the trigger.  He is being charged with obstruction now and if it is proven that one of his other buddies did this with him there, he's also got an accessory before and accessory after charge coming.

Accessory before:  If he was driving, he drove to the spot of the killing.

Accessory after:  He destroyed potential evidence.

I wanted so badly to believe he wasn't involved, but the more I hear & read, it isn't looking good. Smashing your phone and your home security camera hard drive? Innocent people don't do that. This is looking like another case of a professional athlete with more money than God, who chose to play "gangsta" instead of just playing football and enjoying easy street. What a waste.....

Hope it was all worth it Aaron!!

I hope even more that this all goes away....but I'm losing faith pretty fast.....

Isn't it great that the court of public opinion gets to send him to jail... oh wait we can't. In this country we are all allowed to have an opinion and can form one with what's infront of our eyes. We don't have to wait for someone else to tell us what to think. The courts will ultimately decide his fate but saying we aren't allowed to have an opinion until the court decides is completely anti American and not based on it's belief structure in the least.

It is looking increasingly bad for AH, no question.  I still would prefer to let matters unfold before I condemn him to a life behind bars.  Looking highly unlikely that he ever again takes a snap in Patriots uniform.

my guess is that they're still trying to gather evidence. District Attorney wants tangible evidence for high profile cases. Mebbe wait for him to say something incriminating...or other evidence as part of investigation.

he will likely turn himself in....and if smart, have his attorney by his side when doing so.

the police probably have tails on hernandez and known associates - waiting for a mistake. for example, an associate going to where additional evidence is - trying to remove or destroy any other evidence out there...

    Re: Warrant issued for Hernandez

I am willing to bet that Hernandez didn't do it.  There's really no basis for the comment except to say that I generally think people, when they become successful start viewing life differently.  His buddies, on the other hand, don't enjoy the same success and have no reason to live a clean life.

But that doesn't absolve Hernandez from his decision to cover this thing up which substantially increases the liklihood that he will be charged with more than Obstruction.

Was there video of Lewis with the victims? No.  Hernandez rented the murder transport vehicle and there is video with him with the victim.

Here's a question: If there is a warrant issued for his arrest, what is taking so long to arrest him? They just spent 48 hours hanging out at his house and know where he is.

    [/QUOTE]

Maybe they want to see if he does something else stupid to provide even more evidence. Warrants have a way of making guys do dumb things.

    Re: Warrant issued for Hernandez

    In response to MelWitt's comment:

    .....
They will arrest him based on the charge they have right now they know will stick...that puts him in the system...gives them ample time to develop other leads, squeeze him and his associates, determine the possible multiple charges that might apply....the more charges the less leeway AH will have to cut deals.....they will probably be in contact with his attorneys and allow him some time to arrange $$ for bail and put a few things in order....Ropes and Gray will not let him take off, they are a VERY well known and powerful law firm in Boston, if not the country...then they will accompany him into court....problem is, they have to do it soon , early today, or he'll spend the weekend in jail.....I doubt they'll let him hang loose until Monday....

He's in deep...he faces NFL and team suspensions immediately...they don't have to wait for formal charges, they can do that on the basis of what they already know....he's most likely done on the Pats, maybe the NFL......most doubt he's ever let his reps or the league know about the things he's been involved with, dating back to the Providence incident last Feb, then the FLA shooting, now this.....if he failed to report a single one, according to NFL and contract requirements he's given them reason to suspend him.

Dude no longer exists for me...I hope BB owns his share of not checking this guy out more and relying way too much on his "bestie" Urban Meyer...all the dudes he's told BB to draft have been pretty awful, 'cept for Spikes, and even he made a stupid home made porno...we better never draft a guy from Ohio State while Meyer is there...

    Nothing good happens after midnight....

Minor detail I know, but no arrest warrant has been issued as of 10:30 a.m. 6-21.  Several law enforcement officials cited as source.
