Wes Welker met with reporters for his customary Friday chat, and didn't shy away from the idea that New England is gunning for the number-one seed in the AFC playoffs.
"That's the whole key is trying to get home-field advantage this week and being the number one seed, and that's definitely something that's on our minds and something that we're playing for and we understand that we have to play well from start to finish," he said.
Asked if he expects to play, Welker said, "Absolutely. This is a big game for us and we understand that we have to go out there and play really well to win."
Does he expect Tom Brady to play the whole game? "Absolutely," he said, his eyes widening. "This is for the number one seed, fellas, so we're going out there and giving it all we've got for four quarters."
Welker, who has taken to Twitter like a duck to water, was asked what the advatage is of the top seed and cracked, "Well, you get homefield advantage..." drawing laughs. "So that's kind of key...But it's huge, and knowing you're going to be home no matter what is a key thing."
