In response to RockScully's comment:
Wow. Disagree completely. Rice's contract appears bloated now with Pierce emerging and his fumbling problems at that salary. Maybe trade bait?
Ngata might be as well at this point, too. Maybe they can get him to restructure? Lots of contract issues for Baltimore, regardless. Continuity is a huge reason they just went on the run they did, too.
They're defensive depth is awful. Mt Cody sucks, Upshaw looks decent, but it's hard to tell how he projects moving forward. Is Kindle still even on their roster? Is Suggs even coming back with his age and salary?
I just think you lose Ed Reed and Ray Lewis down the middle and you can reset the D for a while.
It's pretty arrogant to think otherwise.
I don't know what Flacco was making previously, but many of their vets may be gone simply because of his new contract. It just depends who their younger players fill in for future HOFers on D and key players on offense.
The good news is, that Pierce guy looks like a legit, young RB.
Cincy will be the team in that division moving forward after some ince recent drafts and a lot of young talent.
How is that arrogant? I said they'll be slightly worse, but the drop off wont be significant. At this point of their careers, on the field, Suggs and Webb are just as important as Reed and Lewis. The drop off would be moreso off the field, which I brought up.
FA wise, there is speculation that Ngata, Suggs, and Boldin will be candidates to restructure their contracts. Jacoby Jones will probably restructure/extend. And if Suggs is healthy, I think he'll play at a higher level than he played for most of this season.
Are they going to lose some FA's? Yeah. No different than any team with a high priced FA. I said it already, this team is trending to be built like NO, NE, GB...a QB centered team. I think this postseason proved one or two things: 1. Cameron has held Flacco back or 2. Caldwell has unleashed Flacco's potential.
I never said I thought the Ravens would be champs because I don't believe teams that are overreliant on their QBs are the best way to create a championship team. I said the Ravens are still very much in position to at least make the divisional round.
