Outside of the obvious of drafting Brady, I like that they took Drew Bledsoe instead of Rick Mirer.  Is it the best?  No.  But I was a huge Drew Bledsoe fan so I'm mentioning it.

Props to the 70's mention of Hannah, Stingley, and Cunningham.  I wasn't alive then but know just how great they were and how Jack Tatum cheaply ended Stingley's career.

Honorable mention to drafting Ty Law, another one of my favorites.

Best trade ever?  Gotta be a 4th rounder for Moss.

    [/QUOTE]

the 70's drafts produced a ton of good players... from Julius Adams  beginnig of the 70's to Mosi Tatupu end of the decade and many great players in between.

Realizing how depressing my other thread was, I decided to do the opposite...

The Moss trade is an easy one but looking back on it, every team in the NFL was nuts for letting Moss go to the Pats for only a 4th round pick. The Pats were smart but got lucky...

My favorite is 2003: Pats trade 1st rd 18th overall (Kyle Boller) to Ravens for 2003 2nd rd 36th overall(Eugene Wilson) and 2004 1st rd 21st overall (Vince Wilfork)

Wilfork is obviously one of the best players the Pats have ever had and Wilson was a starter and key to those 2 superbowl wins. Considering the Ty Warren pick that year from the Bledsoe trade, that was a HUGE draft for the Pats.

This is easy. Have to go with the highest rated AV in history for a pats player.

Tommy Gun gets my vote easily.

    145 AV I believe....Thats Nuts!

I know fairbanks was there 4 or 5 years I think Kilroy was there for most of the decade not sure though.

Yet another of those draft choices made with the best of intentions before the days of the extremely detailed scouting process that goes on today...serious injury issues...too bad...

    Best Free Agent pickup?

Doug Flutie, just for the drop kick and having a new england legend on the roster.

But seriously, Rodney Harrison. No way we get 2 more Ringd without him...

Best Trade, I have to go with Moss

Luck or not the best draft pick has to be Brady.

Ken Sims the worst as he was 1st overall.

Dillion was the best trade, he defined what the team was.

Could Darrelle Revis prove to be the best free agent pickup?  Stay tuned...

Best pick: Either than Brady...have to say John Hannah.

Best FA pickup: Like what DoNotSleepOnThePats predicted I wanna go out and say Revis, if he pans out, will be the best pickup the Pats have made.

If we're sticking to the past, then Vrabel.

    Best trade: Corey Dillon.
