What other Boston athletes could play football?

Now I know that this is a random question but I was thinking about what Celtics, Red Sox or Bruins players would be good additions to a football team. Here are a few of my suggestions.

Big Baby - DE or Offensive lineman. He could also be a decent TE.
Shaq- How about this guy protecting TBs blindside.
Rondo- With his crazy long arms I think he would be a great CB.
Ray- WR - He would be a tall, fast WR that would run perfect routes.
    Lester- How about Bradys replacement?
    Ells- Kick or Punt returner.
Chara- Hey we might need a new offensive guard

    Any other ideas?

Pedroia, easy. Although I don't know if I consider him an athlete, heck he is barely a baseball player.

But he has the make-up of a dude who would win at anything he tried because .... he would simply will it to happen....

@Heisthejuan:  is it because he is white and short?

Because quite frankly, Edelman does not belong in that conversation when it comes to actual playing athletes in Boston uniforms.

I didn't mean for this to turn into a race conversation.

As for Pedroia I agree with ZB. In fact I had a hard time finding any Sox players that would make good football players. I then thought of Lester as a QB. Ells would most likely get hurt as a punt returner but he would be pretty quick. I think that Crawford would be a good at any position. He seems like a crazy athlete to me.

I also had a hard time thinking of Bruins that would be good outside of Chara. On the flip side it seemed to me that almost every Celtic could help a football team in some respect. There is simply so much height and athleticism in Basketball. It is interesting to think about.

Another question might be who is the BEST ATHLETE IN BOSTON? I don't know who I would answer that question with or what the qualifications would be. Would it be the person who could go to another sport and dominate or simply the best person at their sport?

I know that these are all hypothetical questions but what else do we talk about on a Bills week?

Rondo as slot receiver and scat back in the wildcat. Welker is quick and Woodhead is quick and Branch is quick but Rondo is a tachyon.

Wouldn't you have loved to have had the Big Maestro at defensive end . . .   oh . . .  about 15 years ago?

Nate Robinson.  He actually played CB at the U of Washington and possesses off the charts athleticism, quickness and hops.  He's also a tough, in your face type that plays with a chip on his shoulder.

With his speed, quickness, leaping ability, long arms, and freakishly large hands, Rajon Rondo could be an absolute terror of a wide receiver.  The only problem is, if he ever got lit up, he might snap in half.

[QUOTE]Carl Crawford. He had the chance to play ball at Nebraska, Oklahoma, USC, Florida and Tulsa but chose baseball. Offered a scholarship to play basketball at UCLA too. Now thats what you call an athlete! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Crawford#Early_life

Darnell McDonald turned down a full boat at Texas as a RB to play baseball.  6,000 yards in high school or something like that.

This is a dumb post, no mlb players on the sox or nba on the celts could make it. Nba tough guys like kg and shaq would get pushed around by a tough player like chung. the Nfl is a mans game dustin pedroia would get killed in a nfl game.
