He must have got it from college because Millar was born and grew up in LA. He played college in Beaumont Tex. and still lives there.
It was definitely the most embarrassing thing in Boston sports history, or maybe it was that Papelbon dance either way it's baseball related.

IraqSteve, that's the furthest commute I've ever heard of. Seriously I hope you all stay safe and get home real soon-Thanks

Re: What Saint fans are saying...

after facing our 2 most hated rivals (jets/colts) in the previous 2 weeks i would honestly have a hard time getting myself all riled up over anything that the saints fans would have to say...

actually, just being completely honest, i have a few family members down in nola and visit the city somewhat regularly. i love the place! furthermore, the locals down there have always been very hospitable towards pats fans when we have played in super bowls down there. toss in the fact that i have tons of respect for drew brees and sean payton, and up until this week the saints have kinda been my adopted nfc team of choice. and while they love their saints, i have met several locals down there that actually like the pats in the afc because of our super bowl appearances in their city and the fact we have had some lousiana boys on our roster over the years..

make no mistake, this week they are the enemy and currently the team standing in our way, but i have no hatred whatsoever for the saints or the city of new orleans, which is a bit of a letdown after 2 weeks of the extreme venom of our rivalry games. that being said, this game will be a big test for both teams, and is a must win for the pats if we are to keep hope alive for a possible 1st round bye and home playoff game. so if you're a saints fan, dont take it personal if i wanna see your team's perfect record go down in flames this week, next week all will be cool again lol...

I could never go after a Saints fan for several reasons.

    1) Fantastic city to visit (so long as you stay in safe areas)
    2) Food, Food, Food (even Popeye's is freakin' great)
    3) Pats fans should all remember that the last three SBs played in the Superdome included our beloved Patriots
4)It's tough to root against a fanbase that has long suffered like the Saints fans have (unless playing the Patriots)
    5) I love cajun culture(I don't care if they use o, eaux, ogh, oh, eau)
    6) Did I mention the food?

I hope you well in wallowing in your embarrassment of how others express themselves in fun.

Oh, and don't forget the food!

And you are right, most areas of the city are safe as can be.  Many major cities have areas where you are best to avoid.  New Orleans is no different.  The next time you are in town hit some of the Bucktown restaurants on the south shore of Ponchartrain.  Also, check out the Garden District and Magazine Street.

I was over at the Black and Gold Fan Forum and read some stuff that was pretty bad as far as reducing the Patriot's organization and New England fans to cliched stereotypes.  The same posters seemed to claim the moral high ground because they said that New England fans were classless like their team.
    I thought of LT.   :)

I think it's ironic that those few posters exhibit the behavior that they find so obnoxious in some of us.  It takes all kinds............everywhere.

~Nope...I trully don't...unless Peter Fonda is next to him.  But don't get me wrong in judging my naivity post-haste, because I actually think the "eaux" with the "g" added is rather relevant AND pretty darn witty, and I get the joke:  "Eaux", as I understand it, often means, and is a suffix for, "water", HERE:  The city, which is under-water;   ALSO, "eaux" is terminology on certain alchoholic beverages- brandies, some wines, etc., HERE:  The Residents of N.O.- and moreso, Saint's Fans who for decades have had to drink to watch them play;    FINALLY, "eaux" is often found as a term labeled for toiletries and perfumes, HERE: specifically, The French Populace of those residents...  And SOME of the posters on here thought it was a pointless or even embarrassing turn-of-phrase...Real Joke's On Them, huh?

As I also mentioned before, I avoid most all Saints forums.  Just as with most other fan forums they are mostly idoits with nothing better to do.  I prefer general topic football forums and opposing team forums for real insights.  Sure, there is still weeding to be done to get through the foolishness, but at least I learn things I may not have known from the select members.

Nope, I am not a cajun, I am a Louisianian.  And the idiots to whom I refer are a vocal minority just as there are on most NFL fan sites.  The vast majority of Saints fans, just as with Patriots fans, are thoughtful and engaging.  Attempting to judge a fan base based solely on a few booger eating clods sitting before the computer in their mother's basement is a mistake.  We all have them.  NFL fan sites are all this way.  That is why I prefer the newspaper based forums where people actually have a concept of reality.

I understand your having chip on your shoulder.  I would also faced with the rest of the idiots around the league shouting "tuck rule" and "spygate" and such.  I have spent many hours defending the Patriots on general football forums and cannot understand the hatred.  You are attacking the wrong person here.  I was crushed when the lucky Giants prevented the perfect 19-0 season.  Most Saints fans that I know felt the same way.  There has always been an affinity for the Patriots down here.  Petty general attacks of the people and their culture is misguided.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: What Saint fans are saying... : Seriously, I just noticed your response.  How do you find it tacky?  As I explained earlier the use of the "eaux" suffix has been a part of our vernacular for many years.  It isn't something new this year and it is by no means limited to the Saints.  LSU has used "Geaux" for many years.  The statewide toll is called GeauxPass.  Check out GeauxPass.com.  The Louisiana Public Service Commission's energy efficiency objective is called Geaux Green.  Gators on the Geaux is Louisiana's largest public art display. I think perhaps you are just not familiar thus it seems strange.  I will admit that Louisiana has a unique culture.  It is the only State in the nation with civil code based laws.  We have parishes as opposed to counties.  Lunches are an event to be enjoyed, not quick a run to grab a bite to eat.  Laissez les bon temps rouler! Come on down and spend a few days.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE New Orleans.  I was there in February of 2002 when the Patriots won their first Super Bowl (we had seats in the 4th row of the middle balcony at the 40 yard line).  I believe the restaurant is called "The Courtyard" and if I remember right, it's about 4-6 blocks down Bourbon Street.  It's on the right, on the right hand side of the road tucked away inside a little alcove (very hole-in-the-wall).

I was too young to appreciate it at the time, but the jazz bars were incredible.

It was also Mardi Gras at the time.

I just think Geaux Saints is tacky, like the sweater that Grandma knit for you for Christmas or the "one blond walks into a bar. ouch.  two blonds walk into a bar.   everybody laughs" joke.

Not taking sides but I'm not sure why anybody would get personal with their comments on any type of message board, especially over a football game.  If the Patriots lose Monday night I'll be disappointed and my mortage statement and electric bill will arrive on the 17th and the 23rd of the month.  If the Patriots win on Monday night I'll be extremely pleased and guess what, my mortage statement and electric bill will arrive on the 17th and the 23rd of the month.

Speaking on behalf of myself and hopefully almost ALL Pat's Fans here, We're just giving this week's opponent's fan a some good-natured ribbing...  Just to be clear, I too, as some have stated, personally hold nothing against N.O., The Saints, and definately not Their citizens and fans.  I try rather hard in my anecdotal flops and failures to joke in a generalized and stereotypical manner with ridiculously overinflated metaphors used as pure literary device...nothing more.  I try NEVER to use personal jibes towards the actual poster themselves, which are entirely accidental and incidental IF I do (I enjoy intermingling aggrandizement through self deprecation much more frequently).

Although, yes...Whenever I speak of say, for instance, Throwing Puppy-Dogs off of cliffs (in a very jovial, light-hearted manner simply to better make a point through absurd and demented hyperbole), I WILL, no doubt, be personally responding in that one single instance, to a world-renowned dog-breeder who's the Chairman of the Humane Society that also frequently moonlights as an Animal Cop.....in my town.

BUT MOST of Us here are fully aware of the ridiculousness of hating (I mean trully HATING) a poster on an internet computer screen of a Sporting Game's Fan, and ALL in relation to said opposing team: the team, the players, the city itself, EVERYone and thing in it, and on and on and on...ridiculous.  My simple point is, Please Don't take these verbal jokes and jousts to heart...  Most of Us wish Your Team and Fans success...unless of course it gets in our Team's path (because then, we'll have to step on you...but again, it would be nothing personal)...

Yep, smug, condescending and even presumptuous.

I know you will find this hard to understand because you obviously think rather highly of yourself, but you are pretty much a tool. Your smarmy asides are sublime, but not unnoticed. You claim to want "intelligent" football conversation, but there is only one problem with that - you haven't offered any. The only thing you have done is attempted to negate any opinion or fact put forth by a regular poster. And the only way you have done that is to simply say its opposite. Hardly intelligent. You have kept a veneer of civility only as it is part of your game - a well-polished game to be certain - but still a game. So, please, spare me your "insights" and trite lines about "mother's basement dwellers". It is as pathetic as your overuse of "geaux".

No.  I'm not here to convince anyone of anything.  By debating the issues I am able to learn a lot.  As for coming out flat, I can't see that happening.  The only times that has happened this season was during the "injury stretch", and then only in the games on the road.  If this game was at New England I would be very, very concerned.
