I have a Growler from the Winkler Brau in Bavaria Germany called the Rupfer Espezial. It's very good. One thin I'll miss about Germany is the beer. People told me it was better but I didn't believe. Hopefully with more micro-brews in America we will see more quality beers. I've come to really enjoy the local flavors wherever I go. Kind of like wine, but there is more variety of flavor in beer and the price is always cheap.
I may go with pork steaks, if you haven't tried them I highly reccomend. Pork+steak+grill= delicious. And they are cheap.
Wow, that sounds tempting!!!
They're big in Germany at festivals. They put a big grilled steak like you would get at a restaurant and cut with a knife (not some shin sliced junk) and they put it on a Brochen which is basically just a fresh bun. So it looks like a sandwich with a porterhouse in it but its pork steak, it's basically genius. I'm not big on a lot of German food, but that ones coming home with me next month.
Do you get them at the butcher, or are they in supermarkets?
The supermarkets have butchers. It's different here, like 50's America in some ways. People go downtown, they go to a bakery for bread, a butcher for meat. It's more expensive and time consuming but at some point in your life quality is more important than price.
What really drives me crazy though is that everything closes after 6pm and its against the law to be open on Sunday. If we could join forces and have 24hour butchers and bakeries it would bunstoppable.
