Where are all the Gostkowski doubters today !!

I find it amazing. A few weeks ago quite a few fans were roasting Gostkowski over the coals looking to get rid of one of the best kickers in the game and now you finally get your wish, Gost gets a game winning field goal and not one comment. Amazing !! One telling stat according to the game time analysts as that Gost is now 41 of 42 in that many fourth quarter field goal attempts. With that stat it's easy to see he hits at almost 100% in the fourth and he just doesn't get chances to win games in the 4th or BB may not have enough faith in Gost to put him in that position. Only BB knows that one but the stats here don't lie.

Excellent Point! I like Gost and have been a supporter of his, but I have to admit I was nervous when he lined up for the tieing kick! I never felt nervous with Vinateri. However when Gost lined up for the game winner I was confident in him based on his prior kick. He went thru a slight rough patch but the Gost is back! Everything gets magnified in New England...

Thanks guys for answering my post so quickly. It shows there are a few of us who appreciate Gost around here.

Every player, no matter what sport goes through slumps now and then, even a bad season but I guess going on many of the posters to this site that is just not allowed in Boston or New England. Boy are many a spoiled bunch after over a decade of so much success with local teams. How many have wanted to get rid of BB the last few years !! I'll admit to being spoiled a bit myself but at the end of the day I try to shake it off and appreciate our teams.

Witness folks online this morning ready to get rid of Lloyd after one bad game. He's en route to an 80 catch season but that's not good enough. So many fans in this area and most likely nationwide are reactionary. Guess it's a sign of the fast pace times we're in. We need instant gratification.

Enough of my long winded diatribe. Cheers to all from Milwaukee.

kickoff specialists, FG kickers, and punters never get respect. Why start now?

Besides, how many playoff or SB games has Ghost won with a FG at the end of a game?

Only when it wins the Pats playoff games.

I'm not against Gost and frankly before this seasons missed FG for a win the other missed FGs as a Pat were insignificant because the offense didn't need it to win.  As for yesterdays FGs , good on him, anyway he's not supposed to miss those.

Because they deserve our respect. Without kickers abilities to do their job the complexion of the game would change completely. I won't bother to go into details, it should be self explanatory.

If a kicker on the Pats whether it be Mesko or Gost blow a kick you'd be the first to go all negative. On the other hand respect what they do because without their skills this team would be in rough shape.

You miss my point completely or are skirting around the issue. If Gost is 41 of 42 in the 4th quarter going into his 7th year playing 95 games in a Patriots uniform that might be a stat going back to his first year. Maybe he's never had a chance to win in the 4th and more likely he's had any number of field goals in the 4th quarter in recent years that might have won game only to have a porous Pats defense lose the game or lead.

Ridiculous comment. Yes just like Brady should never miss a pass, a reciever should never drop a ball, a defender never miss a tackle. You catch my drift. When you become perfect please let us all know.

I gotta say, I have always liked Gostowski as a kicker, he has missed some critical kicks already this season and I now find myself holding my breath when he kicks FG's.  Last nights FG kick to tie the game first looked like it was a shank as it went off his foot but he made it right down the middle, and then made the game winner.  I hate leaving the game in the kickers hands...I mean foot, but I still think he is one of the better kickers in the league and is going to make a lot more critical kicks then he misses.  2 huge kicks last night is bring my faith back in the guy.
