    wheres the plan?

are you kidding me.  the patriots have a plan, they just decided not to share it with the fans.  my god people get a grip.  One high priced free agent isn't gonig to fix this team.  I hope fans of other teams don't see this message board.  its a joke and all you crybaby fans are a disgrace.  were the patriots not the redskins or lions.  I will take BB and kraft anyday of the week period.  2001 was a cap cutting season and we won the superbowl.  its one day into free agency, relax.  by the way leigh bodden and banta cain worked out well last year, how did are big free agent splurge A.D work out?  you need depth for injuries that's why certain teams fall apart and others just keep going.  with that said I have no problem with the pats using some draft picks on younger aged restricted free agents.  Now let me have it, you frustrated spoiled brat fans.

I hope you are right that they trade some of their draft picks for RFA. But based on the fact that Pats didnt reach the playoffs in 2008 and were beaten in the first round i 2009 I dont think you can say we are spoiled anymore.

we are spoiled, because these posters are acting like we should sign every available free agent at 12:01a.m as well as draft all future hall of famers.  your not allowed to miss on a player with this group.  so yes they are acting like spoiled brats who have to wait to get their new toys.  society and sports = instant gratification or you stink.  thank god these people are just dumb fans.  too bad their fans of the patriots, no wonder people rip on patriot fans.

Do some people feel that the Pats have this thinking that players will come to them for less money and a chance to really shine with a chance for a ring.

Those times are over and BB and Mr Kraft better change policy or we will be in major trouble this year.

Why are we signing Tully BC ........he, Crable (IR possible again?), Pierre Woods are not the answer.  TBC sacks came against low placed teams and never sighted like AD against good opposition.

Hard to be optimistic looking at Pats moves lately and overall picks in drafts and who they pass up on.......or trade down.

Bodden will go and Ravens will get Boldin.

You act as the fans on this board are the only ones that act like this. Get a clue, they aren't. I've looked at the Colts, Chargers and Redskins boards extensively and every fan, everywhere, feels passionate and moans about free agency.

It has nothing to do with being spoiled. That would mean, every year, we make a huge FA splash and we are mad because now we aren't.

These fans love the team and want to see big moves. It may be unrealistic, but  excuse us for opening our mouths and expressing ourselves, we thought this was an open forum, not a self righteous, team, butt kissing exercise.

I admit, we don't have to act like the sky is falling, but please let us be passionate.

    Good points jedi,

I'm an admitted kool-aid drinker so with all the sky is falling posts tensions were flaring all around. Things seem to have calmed down a bit though.

We are all passionate about our team and are free to disagree on some things. It makes it all the more interesting.

and I am exercising my right to disagree with the sky is falling group posting on here.  so I'm self righteous because I don't agree with you.  Frankly, peoples post on this board show their football I.Q.  I expected more from patriot fans.  That was my mistake.  you are correct all fans get nuts for their team, but to act like the patriots are done because we didn't sign any big name free agents day one is a joke.  maybe I could have been more tactful in my approach, but the naysayers  outnumbered the realists.  You don't win championships with overpriced marginal free agents. The patriots made one big splash with A.D a few years ago.  So as fans he shouldn't be surprised they didn't sign peppers or dansby.  With the holes the patriots have the best move is to use the draft and hit on these picks, sign some experience vets and have faith your second year guys chung, butler, brace, mckenzie step it up.  otherwise your throwing good money after bad money.  Dunta robinson, peppers and dansby are not worth the price tag.  Those organizations with feel the sting for years to come.  know I love dansby, but hes a tackler and not a sack specialist.  thus we don't need a 40 million tackler.

anyways, its good to question your team and discuss it with other fans, but expect to be called out when you make outlandish claims or statements that are obviously that of a fairweather fan or a fan with a small football I.Q.  to many people on this board who understand football.  Your going to get called out.  deal with it or learn your football.

I'm happy you brought this up.  There's a bit of a misnomer about the salary structure the Pats have.  With injuries being part of the game they want a bench.  If all the money is spent on starters and a starter goes out what do you replace him with?  Right now the Pats can plug in a pretty able guy.  Other teams can't say that.  A lot of teams can't say that.
The Peppers signing was ridiculous.  The signing was very quick so that means nobody else out there was offering him that kind of money either.  Chicago stood alone on this one.
Maualuga is a favorite on this board.  He dropped like a rock and we passed on him three times!  The tell tale sign for me is when Detriot passed on him.  A team that really could have used a player like the hyped up Maualuga.  If Cincinnati hadn't of drafted him he would have dropped further.
Boldin is going after #1 WR money.  We have Moss.  It doesn't make sense to pay a guy #1 money when he's going to be the #3 WR.  Hopefully, Reed signs and that will be that on WRs.  Signing Reed to me makes a lot of sense.

Wow talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Yes many of us got overly frustrated and vented day 1 of FA but your lumping everyone who wanted 1 or 2 FA's together into wanting all the FA's shows your lack of IQ period. And talk about small football IQ, the Pats still have 5 starting positions needing to be filled and I count 4-5 positions that need to be upgraded to improve the team that got booted out of the playoffs last year. Hitting on 50% of the top 4 picks to be contributors this year is considered a great draft and you're saying all they need to do is hit on everyone? Lets face it mid-talent low cost FA signings and hoping that draft picks work out is a dangerous game that they've seem to lost over the last couple years. Yes AD was a bad signing but you can't just point to one bad signing and say no one is worth the money. When you have this many holes you need to be willing to take atleast a couple risks and sign a couple higher end startering FA's. When we had the depth and talent to take risks on older vets and high upside players recovering from injuries it worked great but we don't have the depth, talent, or leadership for those risks anymore.

pick and choose to make a point is real easy.

one - A.D is the only big name signing I can think of since BB has been here.  Rodney harrison was a stud but I would not consider him a high priced big name.

secondly, some of you have to except the fact that you can't fix all the problems in one offseason if you plan to build sustainable success.  I believe the patriots took one last shot in the 16-0 season and missed.  From that they made the decision to go younger to start another dynasty while staying competitive during the rebuilding process.  Cowboys, 49ers etc could not do this.  To me its better to stay the course of getting younger with the plan of having another run at a dynasty starting in 2011 which should leave brady with at least 4 good years left in him.

not saying 2010 is a throw away season, make the playoffs and anything can happen, but maybe they realize they are better off saving the money rather then spending on marginal free agents to give false hope to the fans.

finally day of free agency saw two teams or maybe 3 out of the entire nfl sign players and people are blowing up on this board about the patriots not signing anybody.  give me a break.  when you cry, if you want to someone to tell you its alright and your right, cry to your mother and not real football fans.

So I take it from your post that your idea of being a fan is to sit back and say nothing? You never get upset over a player not signing or then not drafting someone you liked? You never get frustrated and just need to vent? You never question moves of the team? Well I guess you are the perfect fan and as such please enlighten us to the perfect moves you would make and which players you would chose in the draft and reasons why instead of just crying about how you think everyone else is a bandwagon fan cause they question moves. I do get upset.  I was so mad when the patriots traded up for chad jackson.  I thougt they were moving up to grab lamar woodley.  Michigan fan, so I knew this guy would be perfect in a 3-4.

I was mad they didn't lock up wilfork earlier, but waited to see what unfolded and by showing some patience the patriots proved to do the right thing and I didnt need to get upset.    Sometimes you have to wait for the the market price to be set.  a la leigh bodden.  who at dunta robinson price may not be a good investment unless he becomes reivis and not an exceptionally good number 2 CB

I was mad the patriots were not taking advantage of their window of opportunity to win championships with brady, but waited and realized they are going to change the mold and do away with the notion of teams only having a certain window to win in, by showing responsible management of the cap allowing them to sustain success even when rebuilding.

    feel better now.

But you have to realize that you creating all these posts telling people to stop crying and calling half the board bandwagon fans makes you seem like a crybaby yourself and shows that you do get very upset. No one who isn't upset would go to this length making all these new posts complaining about people who got frustrated and needed to vent. You are infact fueling the flames and it makes you look like a pass by football fan since you haven't discussed how you would improve the team or what players you think can fill the holes instead of the players you say are overrated and overpayed (which I agree the ones you listed, Peppers and Dansby were).

you are right on all accounts except for one.  I gave suggestions, which include using one of the draft picks or 2 on restricted free agents such as pierre thomas, kirk morrison (not that high on this on, but at the right price), brandon marshall assuming moss leaves after this year.  then have a solid draft. LB position is stacked.  fill in some needs with stop gaps for one more year and continue to rebuild this dynasty while staying competitive like they have the last 2 years.  yes we are rebuilding and its incredible how well we have done during this transitional period.  cowboys and 49ers didn't fair so well.

hey, im with you.  every year at this time, people freak.  yes, we didn't win the superbowl 6 times last decade.  LOOK at all the teams who won LESS than we did.  All their moves, etc, and we ended up still doing better.  We have maintained success.  that is difficult to do.  Last year did stink, yes... and the talent level dropped FOR SURE.  If you recall, going into last year, we had MAJOR personnel drops and a few guys who flat didn't work out.  It happens, im not panicing, as long as we solidify what we have and add to it.  We for sure need receivers.  And Dbacks.  I hate running back by committee.  But as a whole, things seem ok to me.

    I'm sorry Hagen,

I didn't see the posts with your thoughts on players. I do like the Morrison idea but the Marshall idea just doesn't quite float for me. I feel that they let Boldin trade go by the wayside, even though it was a fair deal as far as picks go, because they didn't want to sign him to an extension right away. It would take higher picks and just as much if not more money to get Marshall, so in my mind that's not an option. Hence, why I kind of lost it seeing Boldin and Walter go for fairly reasonable deals.
