For me it's essentially a tie:  Dobson and Collins.  On the one hand, tall, fast wideout that stretch the field; on the other athletic multi-talented LB/DE.  Potential for each to make an impact on their respective sides of the ball.

For me it's Collins. I hope he can play OLB and cover. This team has needed n OLB for years. Now with him and jones book ending we hold be able to move the qb.   If I could pick an un drafted guy its Armstead.  if healthy this guy could be a steal.

Harmon is my favorite. Just because of all the heads exploding with that pick. Reminded me of the beginning of the movie "Scanners". Can't wait to see if he becomes a contributor and if he does, how many more heads will explode!

Second is Dobson. Can he make a backhanded catch of a ball thrown by Brady?

Re: Which draft pick is your favorite?

I like the fact that we picked up two receivers at a position of great need--if both work out great, but  with two there's a better chance of at least one working out.  Having two options rather than one there makes me feel a lot more comfortable about that position.

I also like what Collins could bring.  My hope is he turns out to be a three-down LB who has the versatility to rush the passer, drop into coverage, and hold the edge against the run.  That gives us something we don't really have now and could make a good LB group great. (I see Buchanan as another option for that same position.)

As far as my intriguing guy, I'm going with the MLB Beauharnis.  We've got more MLBs than we need, but Spikes is going to be a free agent and I'm not sure we'll resign him, so Beauharnis may be his eventual replacement.

Then there's the whole Rutgers defensive backfield, which is intriguing just because it's so odd to bring in a whole unit . . .

Collins for sure....really want to see Jones have some help from a speed rusher on the other side.

Dobson would be my pick because he represents the perfect compliment to who we already have on offense. i agree with Z here...he has huge potential and upside. And if he can show a bit of that year 1, it's going to really open things up for our te's, amendola, Edelman, etc. he plays well in a portion of the field in which we have (before the pick) had no real threat.

Don't have a favorite per se, but the one I'm hoping tuns out the best has to be Harmon. Just so all the naysayers will have to eat their words.

Honestly, My co-worker is talking about this Boyce pick (He's a Miami fan).  So I am looking at him and Dobson the most, as I am sure most of us are.  But I am excited to see what Collins brings.

I would have to say that I'm the most excited about Dobson. Harmon and Collins intrigue me a lot, but I'm so pumped to have a tall receiver with some decent downfield speed and great hands. If Gronk can get healthy this team is going to be deadly in the redzone.

Logan Ryan for abvious reasons. Look like he has the same agressive style and attention to detail as McCourty but shows a better abilty to track balls in the air over his head and his ball skills are good and he isnt as stiff in the hips as McCourty. Im am happy that maybe Arrington will never play outside again with him here. Looks like a solid CB and may challenge Dennard for the starting spot. I would like Dennard to eventually kick inside(only 5'9") and that pushed Arrington to Dime and lets us start Logan who is better vs the run and a taller defender for the outside. Boyce gets honorable mention as a David Givens type sleeper who may play this year and surprise.

    hey triple,
ryan cant play press man klike dennard can and ryan is slow (doesnt have recovery speed).

specualted to need cover 2 to protect him or move to safety.

    so we'll see

This under the radar kid just knows how to play the game . I see a Ray Lewis like similarity to the way he attacks in the run game. His reaction time and the ability to locate the ball in the backfield stand out most when I break this kid down. Natural Born Leader to boot.....

Collins.  If you're going to fail, fail big.  Gronk was a guy with a potential back problem coming out of college.  Then he showed up at camp and almost flipped over the blocking sled.

The danger with Collins is stiff hips.  It may be that he can't cover.  If he can cover then he's BB's new nickel back, a gorilla playing out there with the elves, weird and unprecedented in the NFL.

agree....harmon seems like the perfect BB guy. he was a leader on the field and probobaly in the locker room at rutgers. they really added some leadership to that secondary by adding wilson and harmon into the mix.

Re: Which draft pick is your favorite?

I would have to say Collins.

When guys like Von Miller or even Bruce Irvin came out, I was thinking how exciting it would be if Bill got a hold of someone THAT explosive athletic and versatile where he could line him up at DE, OLB, ILB be great in coverage and rush the passer.  Create mismatches, surprise and frustrate QB’s and just flat out cause havoc anywhere on the field.

Now he potentially has a guy who he can coach the hell out of and hopefully get every drop out of.  Getting a player like this, lets the supposed "greatest defensive coach ever" demonstrate that he is, in an innovative way, which I think is really cool.

With a guy like this and a coach like Bill, he has a chance to be special.  But we’ll see…

ok, thanks, I hadnt heard that yet. I mean we do play a lot of cover 2 depending on personell. Kyle is also a zone guy. So Dennard and Talib are man to man specialists with Ryan and Kyle preferring zone...Hey, in any event, every DB is gonna need to play both and Im not gonna pigeon hole Ryan before seeing him play. I was told Dennard was a smaller,.slot CB who excels in man, but he played outside for us quite a bit. U just never know,. so while I appreciate the info, I dont think its warranted yet. Did he run a 4.6 or slower?? I believe he was a 4.4-4.5 guy which is just fine.  Also, why would the Pats need another CB/S , we have too many as it is (Gregory, McCourty, T.Wilson)

If were drafting slow, zone only CBs in the 3rd round, thats a problem, imo.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1599423-logan-ryan-scouting-report-nfl-outlook-for-rutgers-cb

    Man

Ryan’s physicality serves him very well in man coverage. In press coverage, he does a terrific job of jamming receivers at the line or at least getting his hands on his opponent within five yards to slow or adjust his opponent’s route.

He could draw some penalties for using his hands too much in downfield coverage, but he is consistently physical. When he is able to slow the receiver at the line, he does a great job of establishing inside position against his opponent to be in a position to force incompletions or make plays on the ball.

He did get beat deep on some occasions in his junior season, and struggles with recovery speed in a one-on-one coverage situation. But if Ryan can clean up his technique, he can be a terrific man cover cornerback at the next level.

    Zone

Ryan is competent in zone coverage, but his game is better suited for man coverage.

As mentioned, he does a good job reading plays and getting hands on the football, which suits him very well in zone coverage. That said, he is unnatural in zone coverage, and sometimes allows receivers to make plays behind him while not picking up any coverage himself. Given his use of hands and physicality, he is more effective in one-on-one man coverage.

after reading this, it seems like his biggest issues in college was when he had to turn his hips, he would lose a step and doenst have blazing speed to catch up but its a coachable issue. IN terms of press coverage, it is listed as a strenght as he is one of the most physical, hands on CB in the draft, so not sure where u got that. He sounds like a taller Dennard with maybe a little stiffer hips, although Dennard does run funny with his head high. He ran a 4.56. I dont recall Dennard recording anything significantly faster like a 4.3 or anything. I just like his film and Im excited to see what he brings. Our Dbs are always hurt so Im predicting he plays a role this year.

I have no idea where bredbru is getting the whole Ryan cannot play press and needs to be hidden in a zone.  Not all scouting reports agree, but I have seen none that say Ryan cannot play man.  Some say it is a strength.

Bdbreu is a troll. No one has ever once seen him praise BB for any personnel move. Ever.

so in context, so are you for not giving Brady any credit, EVA!!!  Hey Pot, meet Kettle!

pcmiv, I was thinking the same, actually saw most sites saying he is press man CB. Bdbreu is not a troll though. Maybe a bad speller, but he is a fan like everyone else.

    Boyce on the O side.

    Beauharnais on the D

I just watched TCU's game against K-State. Boyce is definitely much better than his stats. TCU's QB held him back a lot. Think Branch but bigger, stronger and faster.
