Who Do You Think Is the Best CB?

Recent comments by Patrick Peterson saying he "does more than Sherman" (which is completely true) and pretty much saying he is better has sparked my thought...

Who is the best CB is the NFL?

Everytime someone says Sherman isn't the best he always defends himself with the leading the league in picks over 2 seasons crap. I think the INT debate is BS, because Kyle Arrington lead the league in picks with 7 in 2011 and he's not close to a top end CB to say the least. And Sherman also uses facts that he is the least targeted and still has the most INTs and defends, but

I hate how Sherman NEVER gives the team around him any credit. While I do think RS is a very good playmaker with the ball in the air, I do believe the Seahawks defense and system around him allow him to be an All-Pro CB. His front 7 consistently applies pressure forcing errand throws and bad decisions also he has two of the league's best safeties (Thomas & Chancellor) behind him as well. Sherman is helped a ton by the defense around him but he is still a very good CB regardless but I do believe if you put him in a shattier system he would be exposed. he only plays one side of the field and runs a lot of zone as well and again if helped by an amazing front 7....

Peterson is VERY good imo. He is a real good CB who is only getting better. by the time it's said and done I think Peterson has more potential that he could and will reach to be the best in the NFL. But, as of right now, I don't think he is THE definitive best.

Darrelle Revis was easily the best shutdown CB from 2009-2011 not even a question about it. While I still believe Revis is a top caliber CB, his play has been mighty different post-ACL. Yes, last season was his first year back from it but last season he wasn't the definitive #1 CB like he once was. While I think he can still regain that crown this season, we must wait and see.

Joe Haden is a young up and coming CB that is a beast. he is a real good CB on a Browns D that actually looks decent on paper. but knowing the Browns that will fall apart somehow, but haden will be a bright spot for years as a top end CB, but will he ever take the jump to #1? Idk. hes not there yet.

Aqib Talib, when healthy, is a monster imo and I wouldn't mind him over Revis IF you guaranteed me him 100% healthy, but that will never happen so I leave him out. too bad. amen the broncos got him, hopefully the hip flares up in January again.

So, I cant decide on who is the best CB. I would say Revis or Sherman (as much as that pains me), but Revis left something to be desired last year. Hopefully he brings us back to his 2011 campaign and Sherman's mouth will be silenced.

All things being equal..all healthy, I would choose Revis. I am not just saying that ecause he is now with us. The thing I like about revis is his technique and physical play. I think he is one of the best technicians amongst the cB group you mention. He does well against different types of receivers. Talib I like but he plays a little soft for me. Sherman and Peterson are beasts, butl lets see how they do on their new contracts.

Yes, I didn't see much of Revis last year but I'm assuming he wasn't as dominant as he was in 2011

Obviously he was a top end CB last year but was he the consensus #1? He was in 2011, and I hope he regains that

As much as I want to say Revis is still the best I have to go with Sherman... Even though Sherman doesn't play both sides of the field (he doesn't need to) and he was a fingertip away from losing to the 49ers last season in the playoffs.  His size, speed, range and athletic ability are all too much compared to everyone else.

Who has been up to this point? Or who is in 2014.  In 2014 Miliner will be.  That's obvious.  He finished 2013 as the best CB.  Best part, he doesn't cost 12 mil (half mortgaged into next season due to cap hell)

Pat's Fan lost in Jet Land

i read where last year that revis graded out as the top cb

he also played on a team in turmoil and a scheme not made for him

Deon said that Taliban was playing the best cb last season, right up until he was injured.in both years I think he was injured without contact

i only know Paterson by reputation

rs made the big play in the clutch , so you have to give him respect, but he does have a lot of help

I think I would want revis if I had to choose.

In fact he did.  He also finished the year shutting down great receivers.  Rumor has it that it's difficult to be a rookie CB starting in the NFL.

    McCourty? Pro Bowler no?

I didn't see him at the end of the year, but I know we blew first half of the season I guess he got better.

Still hasn't lived up to the #9 pick imo

    Peterson

    Sherman

    Haden

    Revis

    Talib

    That's my top 5 entering 2014.

I agree with Peterson with what he says in describing Sherman, but that's not Sherman's fault. Frankly, I don't feel there is a "the best" at this position when it was clear when Deion was or Ty Law or maybe a Champ Bailey once Law faded in 2006 and retired.

Actually, it was THREE times he was benched for sucking.  Another 1st rd draft bust at CB with Kylie Wilson still on that roster.

They should have traded back like I suggested. They've have Richardson and probably two other good young players vs just having a bust in Milliner.

Wasn't for McCOurty as an All Pro his rookie year. Now he's becoming an elite FS as your draft pick Kyle Wilson is buried in a crappy secondary. LMAO

Of more interest, who are the next 4? I think Talib should be in there. Both Cromarties? Grimes? Harris?

Still hasn't lived up? You mean all one rookie years of his career? Very few rookie CBs have good years. The ones that do seem to regress and get demoted to safety.

I agree the top four are cleary separated with Sherman, Revis, Peterson and Haden.

I would put Talib at 5 and 6-8 I would put Alterruan Verner, Brent Grimes then I'd group up Cromartie, V. Davis, Jason McCourty,  and Ladarius Webb

Verner is too small for top tier IMO
