Who's Roster Spot will Tebow Take?

    Bolden? Sims? Blount?

I realize that the 53rd spot may be nearly meaningless but it's certainly not meaningless to the player who gets it. It has to be a psychological blow to a young player with talent to miss the mark especially losing it to a no talent bum whose 'fans' are religious fanatics as opposed to football fans.

If Tebow was just a football player with none of the religious baggage he wouldn't have even been brought onto the roster.

At this point I'm with posters saying that Tebow will be kept to prevent more pr damage from Hernandez.

Tebow fans (the religious fanatics) secretly want Brady and Mallet to be hurt so 'Tebow' can play.

I hope he takes Cole's roster spot.  Tebow is better then him.

Pats had some QBs in today for workouts today  . . . I see Tebow cut and the 3rd QB to be on the practice squad.

Tebow, I'm sorry to say, will take Tebow's spot if Tebow doesn't get cut. It's lousy that they would take Tebow's third QB spot and give it to Tebow even though Tebow played like a third string QB!

BB doesn't normally carry 3 QBs so there is no guaranteed 3rd string QB spot.

Re: Who's Roster Spot will Tebow Take?

    Ballard's.

Really, Tebow does something different than most players in the NFL.  He's not a little Michael Vick, he's more of a snowplow as a running back.

Unlike Vick, Tebow is built to be a third and 1 specialist.  Robert Griffin III and Colin Kaepernick hit the line about as hard. Tebow is slower and less accurate than these two but he's smarter.  That's going to come in handy in a Bill Belichick hurry-up offense.  RGIII and Kaepernick probably couldn't play the up-tempo quite yet.  Also, Tebow is affordable.

Furthermore, because he works cheap, Tebow's going to hit the line again and again, but no one will risk RGIII or Kaepernick on such plays.  BB isn't afraid to get his third stringer injured for 4 weeks.  No, Tebow won't take the pounding until he's age 35 or 40 in the NFL, but neither will Vereen or McCourty probably.

Tebow has been hired to help the Patriots win games, especially if Tom Brady is injured.  He's going to primarily go in on running subpackages against vulnerable defenses, probably with Gronk and Suds in as extra blockers.  He's going to run the football all day until the defense starts selling out to the run, and then we're going to find out if he can hit open receivers.

If you believe what goes on in preseason games then the Jets are a 3-1 team to you.  Good luck with that!

Imagine they trade Mallet and then Brady has a career ending injury. The Tebow show will set up shop here in NE permanently.  I'm hoping that doesn't happen but Tebow fans are rooting for it.

I still say Tebow was brought in to run the read option on the scout team for the D and to learn how to be a non-option QB (read that pocket passing QB).

I am an atheist, and I have not been impressed with Tebow as a NFL quarterback,  but I found your venom against people who are religious unnecessary and offensive.

And you are wrong, I did not do a search , but there were multiple seasons when BB had 3 QBs on the roster.

    Some examples

    Brady, Hoyer, Mallett

    Brady, Cassel, Gutierrez

    Brady, Cassel, Flutie

Can't remeber who were also at QB when O'Donnell, Davey were there

If Tebow makes the team it is proof you don't have to earn a spot to be on a 53 man roster. I will be pretty upset if this guy makes the team and quite frankly a little dissapointed in BB.

Venom?  What venom be specific. Tebows fans aren't Patriots fans. They were Florida fans who now do not watch Florida football, they were Denver fans who no longer root for Denver and they were Jets fans who no longer follow the Jets.  Now they are Patriots fans who will want to see Tebow be the starting QB no matter how bad he plays. He's already a hall of famer to them.

Is that venom enough? Its all true.

He didn't have 3 QBs last year so why would he carry a 3rd this year? They can bring in a cheap practice squad QB to run the option in practice.  They looked at two this week. Why pay Tebow a million a year for nothing. He'll never play.

Fair enough.  I flip flop back and forth on this.  I think at the end of the day, with all the good stuff Tebow does as far as being a good teammate, good example, etc it just goes against everythinbg BB has done in the past and with that said, Tebow will be gone.

Exactly. It's almost as if he would be playing Favorites over giving it to someone who deserves it far more.

    Then expect to be upset/disappointed.

He just outplayed the incumbent backup despite that guy's years with the team and this being TT's first camp. Some would call that earning a spot.

Who "deserves" it more. Some extremely marginal little street scrub that will likely not even stay on the team all season?

    What's up babe.

Are you trying to tell me you think Tebow has earned a spot on this roster.?  I haven't seen him do absolutely anything in 4 games that lead me to believe he should have even made the last set of cuts. He's an absolutely horrible qb. Even last season the pathetic Jets skipped him when Sanchez got benched for McElroy. I'm sorry I don't mean to offend you but you can name anyone else on the bubble and I'd rather them on this team then him.

    M. Cole, T. Wilson, D. Fletcher, M. FortsOn, J. Cunningham, J. Bequette, Q. Sims, B. Bolden, L. Washington, J. Develin and every rookie rounds 1-7 deserve that 53rd spot more then he does. There is a bunch of nice guys around the league that don't make it just cause they are nice guys. I'm sorry the dude stinks and every team that's had him couldn't get rid of him fast enough.

Not entirely sure how one can make a case that Tebow outplayed anyone in any of the games that I watched but I guess outplayed is in the eye of the beholder.

I have no earthly idea why Tebow would make the 53 man roster - it certainly won't be as a consequence of his QB play IMO.  If BB keeps him it would have to be to use him in situations and in  a role that we have yet to see.

Oh, and I'm an agnostic and couldn't care less if Tebow burns old sweat sox and sacrifices monitor lizards after each game if he contributes to the team then let's keep him; if he doesn't send him packing.

Tebow has not earned a spot so if he sticks it will be simply given to him.

Tebow has out played Mallett....that's just silly.....

Cole at least knows enough to look back for the ball. It's shocking to me how many DB's lack that required skill. If you don't look back you will get called for pass interference...if if look back you have as much right to the football as the WR.

Cole by the way is a very solid special teams player....if I'm making the call he stays......

BB will cut at least 2 to 3 positions below 53. The Pats need some OL help and possibly a corner depending on who's available.
