All of you have it right, but will Kraft, Belichick, and the Coordinators do about it? We see what plays are coming before they start.  We see over and over that the new corners cannot stop the pass.  We see Brandy to Welker, over and over, are there any other players available, sure looked like it today but Brady was fixed on just Welker. Be great to be like our past greater teams, have multiple player we can pass too.  Maybe a few great receiver instead of only one we can attempt passes too. They tried to get rid of the old engine, but did not do a great job on the overhaul. Spend the money on good draft picks and or experienced known players not what best money can buy.  No need on rebuilding the whole team, just add the appropriate players needed.

you are way off base on this. Welker saw a lot of targets because of Champ Bailey covering moss. I just disagree with your opinion and I certainly hope that we dont waste a first or second round on a receiver

Hey, it's better to be p---d off than p---d on! New England needs to draft a QB. They're sure to get a top 5 pick in April's draft with the way they're playing this year.

Top five pick......only if the trade their top four picks for one player like the Jets. that would be one 1st and three 2nds for those of you scoring at home. Very bad value.

Re: Why did we loose today?

We didn't lose because of the refs, the coin toss is an irrelevant arguement all together because it is what it is.

It was absolutely painfull to watch Kyle Orton have all day on every throw. Lack of pash rush is a BIG problem for our defense. What happened from last week verse the Ravens when we brought the house consistently? I luv BB and trust his decision making, so in that case i just don't understand. Never the less if it doesnt change we will be watching the Jets go to the playoffs. Bottom line there has to be pressure. Burgess was near invisible as he was getting swallowed by Clady half the day. AD i'm not sure about, Ill bet he doesnt come back next year. A solid player but not living up to his contract. No big plays.

Is it just me or were our db's giving large amounts of cushion all day? couple that with no pass rush equals 99 yard drives.

Brady wasn't bad in the 1st half. All down hill after that. He needs to find that consistency as i dont think he has in a full 4 quarters as of yet. Denver totally has his number. For that matter Denver has owned NE for a while now dating back.

The only players on NE that would have been worthy of a game ball had they won in my eyes would have to be Welker on O and Wilfork on D.  I think Wilfork was our best player on the field today.

Other teams and fans as seen in at the end of last year and now, know exactly what plays we will run. We lost the offensive coordinator, and its obvious. Looking at other successful teams right now, they have a least one or two good receivers catching over 100 yards per game.  They have at least one or two corners, that prevent 10-20 catches per game.  They have a defense that can pressure or sack the quarterback on more than few times per game.  Denver is not even a passing team and we could not stop them!  This team lost too many good players and management replaced them with sub par players.

In Response to Why did we loose today?:
Two very simple reasons; 1. no pass rush; olson or whatever this nobody's name is wasn't touched all day long.  2. no f*cking running game. when we really needed to use up clock in 3Q, we got nothing, once again. I've been a maroney supporter all along but I'm done with this clown. Trade him for a sack of used jockstraps. 3. merriweather's stupid taunting penalty was the frosting on the cake. Bet the house that its going to come back to haunt us at the end of the season. This was a very winnable game that we just flat out gave away.

Re: Why did we loose today?

First of all this talk about the defense or the special teams playing poorly is baloney; they played great.  What you can't do is leave your defense on the field all day, wear them down and hope they will stop the opposing team every time.

The offense in the 2nd half lost this game.  In the first half we had two or three tightends on the field, Watson was playing some fullback and we were just pounding the rock down their throats.  Conventional wisdom says if the opposing team can't stop your running game, keep going until they can, or the game ends with an inevitable victory.  Our main runners (Morris,Maroney,Faulk) averaged about 4 yards a carry, but the average at the half had to have been well over 6 yards per carry.

In the second half we reverted back to the team that lost to the Jets.  Pass, pass, pass, pass... three and out, three and out, three and out...  mix in an ineffective draw play now and again and that was it.  It was tentative and soft play calling, trying to finesse a win instead of grabbing it by the horns and dragging it to the ground.

We need an offensive coordinator who gets the ball to every player on the offense that is eligible to catch one, we needed to run 7 or 8 more of those screens that were very successful, we needed to be that team in the first half that was trying to convert 3rd and short instead of the passing team in the 2nd half that was trying to convert on 3rd and long with the defense full well knowing a pass was our only option and bringing rushers en mass.

They controlled the time of possession 36:29 to 28:22.  It was 17 to 7 at the half, old Charlie Weiss would have ran the ball again and again, eating up the clock, controlling the time of possession, keeping our defense fresh so when they were on the field they would have juice to constantly attack and we would have converted points every time we were down in the red zone.

You can say Brady could have done this or that, blame the refs or our defense for wearing down but the reality is we haven't won a Super Bowl without Charlie Weiss and he is the biggest loss we have yet to recover from since our last ring.

Ask any pop warner football coach what you do with a ten point lead at the half when the opposing team has shown that it can't possibly stop your power running game...

Bill has made a crucial error, either in not hiring a solid offensive coordinator or by leaving it in the hands of whomever is available.

I disagree. Denver has a FANTASTIC offensive line
Brady is recovering so there will be offensive struggles.
Randy was shutdown today by an outstanding corner so welker and watson stepped up.

The offense was anemic in the second half but NOLAN made great adjustments and should be def coach of the year with what he has done with that group

The pats have had strong showings from both welker and moss this season with watson showing up and edelman has been a nice surprise. Things will come together and TB did throw 2 tds on a defense that had previously allowed jack.

It was a darn tough loss but there were positives and dont discount the talent of the denver team. Everyone else has to this point and 5-0 does prove that they are a tough team. If we had a tough time with the pass its because of their oline play and extremely deep receiving core.

Its funny, lose a game and the sky is falling. Be a fan and stand behind em. There were bright spots and they will get em next time.

Does every person that posts here have the spelling skills of a plant?

When I grew up in Mass, the schools were known for their strengths in English and grammar.  What TF is going on?   "LOOSE?????"

they lost because Brady has was terrible.. He is so ready to point at everyone else when they blow a play. Have you seen him point at is chest and say "that's on me" ? no.. A real leader takes the blame when he blanks up.. Grow a pair and stand up and take the blame Tom

The Pats lost becaue they permitted a scrub QB to go 98 f-n yards for the score. Pees, where was the blitz in the endzone when you had him down there? Pees is a mongoloid. Merrieather killed em too. Fines for bonehead penalties.

    Charlie Weis
    Romeo Crennel

both good coaches but they are better coaches when they specialize  rather than run a team. Charlie Weis was a great offensive coordinator and he has developed outstanding quarterbacks. Romeo Crennel was a great defensive coordinator. Mike Nolan is another coach that is showing he is a better specialist than head coach.

    So....

Id be glad to have Charlie Weis Back or Romeo. But, As a notre damne fan you understand the difficulty in recruiting top talent because of the strict academic requirements. Considering those obstacles Weis has done a decent job. I mean Notre damne will be producing a top draft pick in Clausen and he did get the top recruit this year. I think it will take an extraordinary coach to have any success at notre damne. Maybe its not Weis, but he isn't  a bad coach

Re: Why did we loose today?

Pats secondary played very soft. They didn't want to get beat long and in the end they got beat short all game. The D as a whole missed a TON of tackles.

Brady clearly has not gotten his game timing back. It looked the past couple weeks that he was making progress but today was a step back. He purposely stayed away from Moss who had Champ Bailey on him most of the day and that caused him to seek other options. Thats why Bailey is still a shut down corner.

If the Pats play a heartless game next week, the Titans will win thier first game.

Long way to go, especially if we can get a win out of Miami tomorrow, but the Pats need to make progress each week and not take steps backwards.
