    Why no moves being made?

Many of us have posted the many different cuts and extensions the Patriots can do to open up cap room and maybe make a move in FA in a couple days.

but they have yet to make any serious progress on that (besides the Gregory cut).

Maybe BB likes the position we are in and has a well drawn out plan already for FA with the cap we already have?

I know there is still 5 days to FA but legal 'tampering' starts on Saturday and its tough to offer guys contracts when you dont have the cap space to do so.

I have a feeling we will only see Soap cut and that's about it... just a good ole BB move

BB will make a move when he's ready to make a move.  We really don't know that they have  '.....yet to make any serious progress. .. .' because that's not something we could know.  For all we know there are serious negotiations going on with a number of players to rework their deals.  Or there aren't.  We'll know when it's announced.

If you expect to hear anything about the Pats moves during free agency then you are following the wrong team. You won't hear anything till the player is signed or the player arrives in Foxboro, which ever comes last.

    not wondering about that.

many have assumed that we should cut/extend certain guys and tampering starts in less than 48hours and we are still standing pat.

just an observation and possible outcome

Pats organization has always been a quiet one regarding team moves.  All to the chagrin of their fan base which is in constant hunger for some sort of good, if not great, news.  We all hate that, right?

    Don't get your hopes up.

There is absolutely nothing that is going to happen this off-season which will enhance our prospects significantly to secure another Lombardi.

BB will shuffle a few names and in the end still rely on Brady to carry the mediocrity he creates on his back to the promised land. It won't happen.

If anything, the supporting cast will get a bit worse. BB's poor drafting for so many years has caught up to him and painted him into a corner. And when Brady finally retires, you will be able to thump your chest about a long series of epic fails and act as if that is connected to the dynasty BB to a great degree inherited.

Re: Why no moves being made?

By ESPNBoston.com The Patriots on Thursday had contract discussions with receiver Julian Edelman, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Edelman, coming off a career season in 2013, is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year, which begins March 11.

The 27-year old led the team with 105 receptions last season, his fifth in the NFL. After playing on a one-year deal worth just over $1 million in 2013, Edelman figures to earn a raise in his new deal.

He's one of the team's two highest-profile free agents along with cornerback Aqib Talib, and the talks with Edelman bear monitoring as we lead up to free agency.

makes sense, they sign an aging vet almost every year and everyone gets excited and says what a great move and they will be the next 'insert past Pats player who everyone loved' but in the end they never really work out:

    13' A. Wilson, 12' Gallery 11' Ocho, Ellis 09' Springs

It's the exact type of retread signing the Pats always make and people always get gitty for but ends up being a retirement tour

According to Schefter they are presently in contract talks with Edelman, so before the legal tampering can begin the Patriots need to know where they stand with their own FA's.

Pats do nobody any favors, this is typical.

They will wait until the last moment to officially make the cuts, even if they already know with 100% certainty that the player will be cut.

They don't put players out on the market sooner than they have to, why give other teams more time to make their plans?

Why tip their hand and let everyone know where they are headed? Agents use anything they can as leverage, Pats give as little as humanly possibly...maybe a little less.
