    Why play the Chiefs/Panthers Game?

In light of what's happened why play it? Neither team is making the playoffs. It won't affect any other teams playoff chances. No one will be watching the game. The stadium will be at least half empty.

It just seems pointless to put the KC Coaches and Team through it.

Simple, the NFL isn't a league that has time to spare. If they don't play this week, they can't play the game at all.

Plus, CBS would have a fit.

Re: Why play the Chiefs/Panthers Game?

the captains of the Kansas Chiefs voted to play the game.

"After discussions between the league office, Head Coach Romeo Crennel and Chiefs team captains, the Chiefs advised the NFL that it will play tomorrow’s game vs. the Carolina Panthers at its originally scheduled time,” the release read.

and maybe Fox would be upset it's not on CBS.

Sad as it is, life goes on.  The news said he thanked Pioli and Crennel before he shot himself in the parking lot.  Even this soon this will be some kind of closure For many. I imagine Crennel and Pioli are pretty shook up.

Just a terrible, terrible situation. Thoughts go out to the family and friends of the player and his GF. Also to Romeo and Pioli both good and genuine people who didn't deserve to witness that.

Play the game.  What will Crennel and his staff do that day??  When tragedy strikes Crennel and his staff like having to watch a person commit suicide, keeping busy and being distracted is a good thing, it's therapeutic to be around other people and be busy.

I just hope they spend very little time mentioning anything about the piece of trash animal guy that played for the Chiefs.  His name isn't worth mentioning, he is a murderer, a coward rotting in a warm horrendous place for eternity as he should.  He is the lowest form of life and people need to be aware of that.  Kassandra Perkins was 22 and the mother of a young baby.  She was murdered in cold blood by an animal whose memory should be wiped from the history boks of the NFL and forgotten forever.  Mourning him and recognizing him today for anything other than being a murderer and coward is unconscionable.

Her name was Kassandra Perkins....her baby is 3 months old and now motherless and it is all because of one coward that should remain nameless.

Play the game like nothing happened and pray for Kassandra Perkins and her baby.

Mixed feelings about it.  Life goes on and sometimes players, fans , coaches, etc need something like this to bring closure.  I mean, is it better for everyone to play the game and be together to help each other to continue on or is it better to cancel and just sit around and be sad all day?  By playing the game it gives the team a chance to be together with everyone and start the healing process.

It's awkward for sure to play, and there is a lot of money involved here, sad to say, and it's going to be an emotional time for all involved, especially Pioli and Crennel who witnessed their player/friend do this.  Man, what a sad and tough situation.  It's one of those things it's going to be wrong no matter if they decide to play or not.

May peace and comfort be with all family, friends, fans, coaches and all who is affected by this tragidy especially the poor little girl who's parent has left their life.

Re: Why play the Chiefs/Panthers Game?

We all know the game "must go on".. this is such a tough call.  I think what makes this situation more intriguing is the nature of the player's death.  We know of players who have died under different circumstances during the season and I do not recall a game being postponed for that reason.

On a second note:  What must have happened between the player and his girlfriend to cause him to kill her and himself?  Being home late from a concert can't be the only reason.  One wonders, did she start talking about leaving with the baby and ask him to be his "sugar daddy"?  Plus, add the fact his mother had to be there to assist in raising the child.  Does that mean the girlfriend started to make noises like she wanted out?  Who knows, but, something bigger than being late from a concert is not why this player took such a drastic action.  All too sad these days.  Best wishes to his family and his daughter.
