At least the Pats did something big during day one of free agency!

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have TBC back to help out, but other than that the Pats have again been flat-footed while other teams reap the benefits of Day 1 action.

And it makes one of their most committed players happy, which should help in the locker room.

Big Vince did it the right way, he honored his contract, and he was rewarded.  I am so happy they were able to reach an agreement quickly.

give it some time.......Bill is not going to do "nothing"........he has studied football, he will strike when he sees value. One thing we all have to come to grips with .....is that he can't fix every weakness. We can't have the #1 guy in all positions. Value of talent is good also.

well well look what we have here.  The patriots locking up the core piece of their defense.  you guys jumping back on the bandwagon now or still crying we haven't signed an overpriced free agent in the first 24hrs of free agency?  I know your still cursing out BB and the patriot approach.  you should change teams and root for the redskins that way you can win a super bowl every offseason and feel great about your team the first 1hr of free agency, to only curse them out during the season.  pathetic

Yeah without Fork, what OLB or Pats DE is gonna rack up sacks while being double-teamed. This is good news. Belichick is playing chess and all fairweather fans are playing checkers. In a 3-4 base if you`don`t have decent NT you`re done. It negates the pass rush and makes the run D porous. Sign Bodden, extend Brady and Mankins, have a draft better than last year. Or at least equal to.

Yea jasonh86, with those players they had a very good defense didn't they, their defense needs additions not just status quo. If they aren't going into FA, I hope this year they use their draft picks instead of trading them for better value.

This still is frustrating. They hit FA flat footed and had weeks to go after their guys. Why did they wait this long to lock up their own guys allowing other teams a head start on FA? Sorry but the Boldin thing just got me frustrated. Though signing Walter will make things all better. Just as long as they don't go after Mason like the rumors I've heard

stommper, who in the free agent pool excluding restricted free agents is worth the money they are getting.  peppers is a bust in the mold of A.D. karlos dansby is a good player, a tackle machine.  we need a pass rusher not a tackler and dansby will be way overpriced.

Boldin not a free agent, stings a bit, however he is constantly injured only down side.  I would rather the pats take a chance on a punk like brandon marshall.  frankly, wr is a concern, but very low.  I think edelmen will continue to grow, moss is solid for this year and welker will help after thanksgiving.  kevin walter  or derek mason as a one year stop gap if you think tate will develop is a good way to go.

also deion branch is coming back once the seahawks sign brandon marshall and release branch.   great stop gap until welker is healthy.  would be a great fit in the mold of jabar gaffney.

Hagen your right, Im just joking with you.......Im not in the War room and have no way of knowing which way Bellicheck goes or how he wants to rebuild. Your guess is as good as any, but its all in good fun. Hey at least we were able to see this team win 3 Super Bowls, that in itself was FANTASTIC

YES, more stop gaps, just what this team needs. (ie Joey Galloway, Shawn Springs)

Whew, I for one can sleep easy tonight. Hopefully we can now wrap-up Bodden. That should allow us to delve into the free agent market and hopefully pick up a few quality players. Couple that with our 3 second round draft picks in a deep draft and we're contenders again.

Way to go Kraft and BB, finally deciding to spend some of that money that you have pockets full of. I think we're going to finally see some big moves by New England, being that it's an uncapped year.

You obviously didn't watch the Ravens game.  So your saying I'm wrong and he's more then a 2 down back?  Seem like your the one without a clue.  Can you actually back your shot up with any actual facts.  Then again why should you start using facts now.

i know and I am having fun talking with you all.  I understand the frustration.  as harvey dent says it always seems the darkest before daybreak or light at the end of the tunnel.  haven't seen dark knight in a while.  I have no problem questioning our beloved patriots.  its our duty as fans and americans to question everything.   I just think people need to show some patience with the offseason process.  I do not like peppers or dansby as much as some on this board.  that is probably where the problem starts.  If i liked one of those guys I would be screaming with everybody else.   I have a feeling the pats may use a draft pick on a restricted free agent that will make some people happy.   good sharing ideas everybody, sorry if I offended anybody, but thats the best way to keep a discussion going as sad as that may be.

wilfork is a stud.  not many nose tackles drop into coverage like wilfork.  I have never seen such a large man cover the screen as well as wilfork.  yes he is a three down lineman.  more of a run stuffer, but a capable pass rusher.  in the 3-4 the nose has one job free up the LB to make the tackles and sacks and vince is the youngest player out there that does this at a pro bowl level.  Everybody had a bad game against the ravens except for edelman.  vince has an exceptional body of work.   the guy is a stud and I will fight over that one.  just kidding.  but your so wrong on wilfork.

Great move for locker room chemistry.  Proves they DO reward the guys who do work for them.  Now...

-If Bodden is commanding too much, how about Marshall from Carolina and Jackson from Indy?  Both can be had for a decent price that is more than worth what their talent is....
