Yet maybe his biggest strength is just how well he moves.

absoloutely. Hopefully another ring or 3 will make him harder to ignore.

I started a Vince for HOF thread 5 weeks ago. Unfortunately it is hard to statistically articulate a DL man's worth other than the over rated sack stat. You have to watch and understand the game to appreciate a DLman's performance. Unfortunately for players such as Vince, most HOF voters dont.

With all due respect.  Dumb question.

The guy's been the best interior defensive lineman for the past 5-6 years.

Another dumb question.....does he deserve it? Does he make it?

    Re: Wilfork in HOF?

I think he does.  Not a single interior lineman has been as consistently effective for as long as he has considering current players.  There have been a few flash in the pan remarkable seasons, but consistency/longevity.  That's Wilfork.

One guy that gets love like Wilfork is Ngata.

    Re: Wilfork in HOF?

He is definitely top 3 in the NFL. I don't know that sacks are underrated, but Wilfork is very much underrated by most everyone who is not a Pats fan. HOF...he needs to be at this level for another 3 years and then I would say yes.

If vince was not on the same team as Brady he would get a lot more notice....

    Re: Wilfork in HOF?

He should be.  The guy is a freak of nature and makes this defense go.  Other than Brady he is the most important player by far on this team imo.  Definitely one of BB's best draft picks.  I cannot believe this guy fell to the bottom of the 1st round in hindsight.  I also can't help but laugh when remembering the idiotic Jets troll trying to argue that Pouha was better than Vince.  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

    Re: Wilfork in HOF?

He certainly has the talent to be in the HOF.  He's absolutely dominant at his position, and can single handedly completely set the tone or change a game.  And this is the case year after year.  However, he doesn't have the "stats" to really get noticed by the voters, so sadly I think he will be a long shot.

It's a good test for whether the HOF is for great players or great stats.

if you look at the DL players in the Hall since 1990, they are stat oriented, with the sack most important. Reggie WHite, Richard Dent, Chris Doleman, Howie Long, JHohn Randle, Bruce SMith

To see him at the table with Young and Dilfer after the game gives an idea of what a mountain of a man he is. His one shoulder is as wide as Dilfer's two!
