The Redskin name is really bad. Only if the then Boston Braves wouldn't have moved to Fenway from Braves Field and wanted a name closer to the Red Sox while keepIng the same team image...

It's not just the Redskins, how about the Cleveland Indians. And now I'm hearing the Atlanta Braves have added their old screaming Brave to their hats.

sue hope to hell they do and cleveland and fsu.why some blatant racism can be celebrated and other scorned is pitiful.
you wouldnt hear of the boston "sambos" in 2012, why the "redskins", the indians and thier racist moniker, the fsu chop. ignorance is blinding, but it adds mocking (and pain and suffering) to the annhilation of millions and the outlawing and mockery of the culture of all the indina nations.

You can't lump them all together. As far as FSU goes, the Seminole tribe actually loves every aspect of it, and has publicly stated it any time PC groups have tried to make it a story.

Also, why did they need some to tell them that the term Redskins was offensive? Hello?
It's like have a team named the Chicago Darks or the San Francisco Yellowmen.
BTW, I mean no racial offense, I simply was just making an analogy. If someone was offended by the terms used I apologize and I meant no offense.

Where i live now in Oklahoma, we have the largest population of Native Americans. Most were relocated here from the east prior to the land run in 1889. I don't see alot of racism towards them, we have alot of towns and cities named after tribes such as Choctaw, Shawnee, Kiowa, Osage. Many of these tribes own big casinos and make lots of money, and do not pay taxes on their earnings.This is our license plate

Yeah this the point I was going to make. I have no problem with nicknames that honor Native American heritage (or Celtic or Viking). Chiefs, Braves, Seminoles, Fighting Irish, Aztecs... they're all good. I thought it was a bit sad when the Univ. of North Dakota abondoned the Fighting Sioux nickname, even though the citizens of ND voted for a change.Redskin is a flat out racist term, no two ways about it.
