Will Seattle's continuing "trash" talking since winning the SB be their undoing in 2014?

Will Seattle's continuing "trash" talking since winning the SB be their undoing in 2014?

No doubt, when you win the game, you can talk the talk.  But, with recent trash talking out of Seattle the Broncos would have been "lucky" to win even 10 games out of 100 seems to me that team is starting to feel awfully full of themselves after winning the SB.

A young brash team they are, but, one wonders if they will enter the 2014 season thinking all they have to do is show up for a game and they will win it.  It all came together this past season for that franchise, no doubt.  They may even think among themselves they are a lock to repeat.  They're good, but, will their mouths talk too much game without having to face reality?

They may not have much room for error next year as the Rams and Cardinals  are fairly competative and the 49rs will be looking for blood.

Your premise is possible. Pete Carroll may have turned out to be a good coach but he is not the guy to dispel hubris, Seattle also won some cloase games this year, they could turn easily with a little overconfidence, after all their offense is not that goood still.

Also 2015 the party is over, I think their defesnive line is a huge component of their pass D sucess. Lot of shuffling that year and they will lose core members of the team by resigning those guys on the line (or they will have to let them go). So we will see!

The reality of the parity era of the NFL and the salary cap.

The window of opportunity to repeat is within that 1 - 2 year window after winning a SB presuming you can keep that core of players that contributed to the championship.  Look at what happened to the Pats after they won their back-to-back SBs.  Except for a few, the team literally changed overnight as players wanted to get paid and bolted for the $$$ only to be never heard from again, just about.  We do hear from players like Golden Tate who will take a home town discount to stay, but, that is still within the euphoria of winning the SB only a week or so ago.  When it come times to actually negotiate a contract, money is money and these players are going to get what they can in their short career windows.

Regarding their trash talk that they'd beat the Broncos 9 out of 10 times, I see the 49ers as their biggest threat and the Cardinals beat the Seahawks in Seattle. Don't forget, Kaepernick, the idiot and the offensive coordinator and Harbaugh too got SF from the 20 down to the 18 yard line and with 1:25 on the clock, a 1st down and 3 time outs, Kap tosses a Hail Mary Ally Oop type pass to a 6'1" Crabtree short in front of 6'6" Sherman. Stupid !!! Toss it long so it goes out of bounds if not caught and SF has 3 more downs. Run once around end to spread the defense. (Vs Ravens in SB previous year Kap has SF on the 5 yard line and passes 4 times & didn't run once.) It was his running that got the team as far as it did in the previous year & this past year but Kap has failed during needed passing crunch time. Also, nice to get a TD asap always but it would have given Seattle a minute and 2 timeouts to come down for a winning field goal. In short, the losing team, SF had a chance to win on their final drive. Seattle could probably get away with they'd win 6 out of 10 vs SF.

If Brady were QB for SF in those last situations vs The Ravens & Seattle, SF would have won the past 2 Super Bowls.

It's hard to repeat; otherwise, they'll be back in the PS. And you saw what they did after the trash talking vs SF and the DUCK comment regarding Peyton.. So IMO NO.

Doubt it, they've been talking trash for a while now. I think they know how to write checks they can cash.

Trash talking has nothing to do with how much they will win next year. Players trash talk when they make a play and their team is down 24 points in the fourth quarter. Same when their winning. It's a huge part of the culture in todays NFL and it's stupid. Shut up and let your play do the talking, that would be original these days.

I was thinking the exact same thing after watching the way these guys have been acting...especially when you consider Carroll won't be able to control them.

They do play Denver next season....saying they would beat them 9 of 10 times will be put to the test.

SB winners are always a big target the next year. Trash talk only magnifies that. Really stupid.

They won't repeat and probably won't even get to the big game. They beat the Bucs by 3. Pffft. Good team, but no f'n dynasty.

that's like saying will BB's continued muzzling of Pats players near a microphone be the Pats undoing. The answer is no - to the Seahawks and the Pats.

The only thing I object to is the notion that the Pats way is the only way, or that somehow we are better sports because we don't trash talk in public.

Seattle DID what Ryan and the NYJ TRIED to do...create an overwhelming, confident, and aggressive D.

You know...the NYJ may have got to the SB, and perhaps won, if they had Russel Wilson instead of Mark Ineptchez.

As long as the teamis young, they'll be fine. They can rise to the occassion on D, and Wilson has proven more than capable.

I suspect when things start to go bad...it will go critical very fast. D will turn on O, money will become a divisive factor, and Carrol will jump ship for greener pastures, as has been his MO, when the going gets tough. He is a decent coach, but a complete slime ball. All this credit he gets for going into the gang areas and all the work he did...it's amazing really...that people give him so much credit for purely selfish endeavours.

At any rate...A punishing D. A smart QB. A good running game. They have all the parts to win again.

    Re: Will Seattle's continuing

So long as the trash talk isn't an indicator of an arrogant approach to game preparation I doubt it will have much if any effect on the outcome of games.  They do play in a very competitive division and that as much as anything will determine how they do next year.
