He asked for release? Maybe, he realized that once Hern is back he's gone so when he's not getting reps in game then he can't help his case to get signed by another team

Sort of a bummer given Winslow's skills, but at least Hernandez should be back for the 2 hardest games left on the schedule (Houston and SF).

Quite an interesting year in free agency...Addai quits, Gallery retires, Fenene goes home...then is released for "arthritis", Gaffney gets cut, Gonzalez never makes it to camp, we give 3 million to Koppen (then cut him), Stallworth gets cut and is yet to sign with anybody else, we sign 500 fullbacks (none of which make the team), we sign a million tight ends (none of which have seen the field), an olympian that plays for five minutes in pre season and a safety that can't tackle. This is what 30 million in salary cap space gets us in the off season? Oh yeah, we did sign Lloyd.

We still have 7 million to spend (not including the 7 million we didn't spend last off season)...maybe we can bring in Jeremy Shockey?

You know what the funny thing is, with all the TE's that have been on the team from the end of last season to right now you could build an all TE O. It would be a 11 TE set formation. Yeah maybe Bill has gone a bit to TE happy recently?

Well, as we all know, Winslow is an phicken soldier, so he prob had other things lined up.

My guess is that the guy came-in had a cup of coffee, went thru some version of the offensive playbook, struggled with the whole business and  buttoned-down decorum of the club, knew he was on borrowed time under the best of circumstances and decided to move-on.....Use the knees all you want but very few vets are accustomed to anything close to the New England  regimen or protocols.

    In response to PhatRex's comment:

This is shocking news that the great BB has signed and released a TE.  How much did that one catch cost?  Nevermind, it must pale in comparrrison to the 20 mil in dead money in NE.  Why does BB continually think that these chumps cut by other teams are suddenly going to have their careers revived by him? The arrogance of BB is beyond anything the league has ever seen.

actually since he wasn't on the roster opening day his contract wasn't guareentied which means he got paid min vet salary for a single game or about $40k which doesn't even count against the cap. Which is well below to two stiffs you call QB's in NY

    Hey phatrex~

Seeing as how your team's already 2 and 1...

Has NY's Front Office broke ground/refit the stadium, in order to house the continent-sized 2012 World Championship banner/New stadium wing for the Lombardi, already?   Or are you guys waiting for that coveted 3rd win, in order to label yourselves the next (i.e. Greatest ever..."Next Dynasty"- total misnomer, almost insulting to Gang green nation) NFL dynasty...?

    PhatRex

It's not Arrogance when you can back it up ( see 5 SB trips in 11 seasons )

    It's called BRAVADO .

Compared to a certain NYJ coach who's claim to fame is "talking" about getting to a SB

    ( see false bravado )

That said , I'm actually in the minority when it comes to Ryan .

I genuinely like what he brings to the NFL sports table and recognize he's an amazing motivator of talent . If BB could get his guys to run thru walls like Rex  - the Pats might never lose a game again ( only slightly exaggerating )

Where Rex comes up short is in the X's and O's department , and the last time I checked it's just a bit more important than personality thingy .

Jets season is over  ( their perpetually weak depth will quickly doom them )

They might as well start game-planning now for the Pats  , cuz a win against BB is as close to a SB as they're gonna see in 2012 .
