Re: With 1 Game to Go, How Close Was Your Pre-Season Prediction?

Truth be told, I was hoping for us to win the division - perhaps win 11 or maybe 12 games. I thought we would sweep the Bills, split with the Jets and lose to the Eagles.

In terms of players, I was excited about Haynesworth, Ras-I Dowling and Tailor Price (expected a breakout year from all three)

Did not think highly of Waters or Carter - tells you how good I am at evaluating talent. I guess we are lucky I don't work in the Patriots' front office :-)

I was pretty psyched about Albert, too, and Ras.  Injuries stink.  Philly was a good prediction, imo.  They just imploded this season, but looked real good on paper at the start.

I had 14-2 losses to Philly and Pittsburgh. So I am not too far off.

Wish I could pipe in with a prediction that was made but had none for the season's record, but as for players like a number of folks Haynesworth was thought to be a decent pick-up at best realizing he might contribute as a part-time player with his best days behind. Didn't think he's be a total bust. I was hoping Ocho would help out more than he has. I don't buy the thought that he's still picking up the offense and knew Price would be a total bust.

I went 13-3, I didn't think they'd lose to either the Giants or the Steelers though. I can't remember who I had us losing to, would love to see that thread reactivated.

Had them at 12-4 or 11-5 with any upset or game at the end that did not matter (like when Flutie drop kicked the finz on the last game of the year that did not matter) BUT...I never thought this D would be so bad. Or are they bad? I think they are. I see them looking bad. I see every 3rd down get picked up pretty easy by other teams. But only 3 losses? Makes no sense. stay tuned...

I think I was 15-1, losing one to the Jests.  I'm happy with the extra two losses as long as we didn't lose to them, good trade.  Especially with the #1 seed, provided all goes well in Buffalo.

I had Pats at 14-2.
Losses at Pittsburgh and Denver.
Glad they shook the monkey of their back at Mile High Stadium.
Can't wait for them to avenge "the nobody saw it coming" loss to Buffalo on Sunday.

I had them at 12-4, losing once to Miami and the Jets and to Pitts and Philly on the road.  Did not foresee a Giants or a Bills loss.

I had them at 11-5 with a possible 12-4.  At the start of the season I thought the schedule looked pretty tough (NFC East, Pitts & Indy) and I thought the teams in the Pats division would be tougher.
In Response to Re: With 1 Game to Go, How Close Was Your Pre-Season Prediction? : I'm sure he doesn't.  It just seems to me that if a person apologizes, it means he really apologizes, no? Some people on this forum have a way of doing what they tell you not to do.
Posted by Patsfansince1966
Don't mean what?  I mean everything I say.  When I said I thought your apology was half-hearted, I meant it because a real apology is not a qualified apology.  Hence, it was half-hearted.  However, I still accepted it.

Now what have I done that I told you not to do?  I don't know of a single thing.  I have said to try to nicer and not insulting.  To the best of my knowledge, I have not insulted you -- yet you called me "moron".  My response was to put you on ignore.

Here is an apology that would have been an apology:  "I am sorry for having insulted anyone or called thme moron in the past year.  I promise to try to not do so again".  THAT is an apology.  Not one that is undercut by complaining about others insulting you.  You still try to shift the blame to others without looking inwards first and saying "What can _I_ do to change the situation and the perception of me?".  Until you do that, there will be no change.  (That was a prediction, not a threat).

I had them at 16-0, so I was alittle off. Didn't think they'd lose  to the Bills or Gints, the only game I saw a potential loss was Pissburgh.
In Response to Re: With 1 Game to Go, How Close Was Your Pre-Season Prediction? : considering all the scrubs that are getting signficant playing time, they've actually exceeded my expectations. Who knew there would be so many people let go, injuries, pick-ups.....ect.

That's what happens to teams all the time.  Massive injuries, and sometimes at one position.  Nobody can call it.

The other occasional unavoidable is crooked refs.  To be honest, the refs get bought both ways, usually for a home underdog and usually on a playoff or pre-playoff game.  It's all about the mobster maximizing his own profits, not about a particular team.  Possible exception: Indianapolis, but they're out this year.

I can't remember if it was 11 or 12 wins.  I was looking at 4-2 in the division and 7-3 or 8-2 outside the division.

I always laugh in August when people say 14-2 or15-1 because Pro football is just to tough a game to predict that many wins, but this team keeps reeling them in.  These are the salad days indeed !

I'm too young to have this poor of a memory, but I think I had them at 12-4.  I saw losses to the Jets, Steelers, Eagles...and then a divisional loss to either Miami or the Bills.

What I couldn't have predicted was how bad the defense has been.  My whole mantra before the season started was "well, defensively they can only get better from where they were last year."  Didn't really pan out that way.  At least the pass rush has been better, right?

I can't remember if I picked here but I think I was at 11-5 making the playoffs as a wild card, with the Jets winning the division. I'm psyched I was wrong on both counts. On the Pats side one of the things I underestimated was our tight ends, what a powerhouse they have become.
