You are obsessed with the Jets. Did you not just deny earlier that you don't talk about the Jets constantly? lol

Dude, no one who is a good player who wants to win a SB is going to the NY Jets. Detroit may be in rough shape, but they're currently better off than the Jets.

Suh either wants hold his leverage on Detroit and force their hand so he can cash in and never sniff a chance at the SB. Or, he can force their hand and leave as a FA after 2014, where Det would probably and predictably trade him then.

This may be a year off, now that I think about it.

No, this is the year some thing is done. You see, you dont understand the cap, and as usual you are wrong. Suh is not on the books for $12m as you say, he is on the books for $22m.

This is the largest impediment for Suh going to another team.  The amount of money this guy will demand will be in the QB range for a defender?  May be in for a disappointing result.
That's my point.  HE has a rep of not being a leader, being a bit immature, etc, so why would Detroit put that kind of money into him moving forward?.....

...... If they overpay Suh, they're cooked and duping their fans.
Do you get the feeling if this guy gets "paid", he becomes another Haynesworth?
That is definitely a question.   I don't see it, personally, but maybe. I just think he was expected to be a leader and he isn't that guy, especially on a team with literally no real veterans or leaders, especially on D.

That was such a huge flaw by Mayhew. He should have shopped for a boatload of mid tier, solid vets who were leaders back in 2011 or 2012.  Instead he got Reggie Bush and overpaid for Glover Quin.

Plop him in here with Vince, Mayo, McCOurty, Nink, etc, and he's immediately not needing to be a leader.

Dangle a SB chance the next few years and I can see it working.
I love this "dangle a superbowl chance" you are always spouting off about.  They haven't won it in over a decade and Brady is coming to the end, as is the patsies ability to be competative.  Live in the present, fool.  This team is no different than any other team with great QB and a bunch of holes.  Nobody is going there because they are superbowl favorites.

Because with them rebuilding the cap charge if he plays or is dealt is not what the check of 11.5 million is. The cap hit is not real money, dumbo. It's only how that player counts under the cap on that team.  They can spend a year in cap purgatory, which they are, and rid themselves of another huge contract they simply can't afford.

The only teams who should be caring about a "cap charge" are ones who are SB contenders, where they teambuild is, and if they can add key FAs under the cap or not. That's where the cap hits matter and what they are at that time.

Detroit is in no way in that position in a cap hell right now. Shh, don't tell HUrlie. LOL

He gets 11.5 on the roster past June 1 and the cap charge is 22 short of an extension. Take the year to eat the cap hit and draft well, clear your books for 2015.

    Simple.

A wise GM would not only consider that strongly, but if a good deal came in return for draft picks to double ddown in a deep draft, say in Rds 2 and 3, voila, there is a possible base of your rebuild.

No. At the end of the day, this sport, as is hockey are really sports of attrition. It's part of the game.

I am just not going to let a troll or a moron come in here and pretend what opened 2013 season, (with a little luck in the injury dept), that this club was not some force to be recokned with, because it was clear by the time Gronk returned, and that D being healthy...whoa.

I wouldn't have been shocked if they ran the table after, say Cincy, especially seeing how the backups looked pushed into more reps. The depth was there, the starting quality disappeared.

We lost WAY more than Denver, too, by the way.

I was responding to Bustchise, the legendary INBRED, who claims no one sees NE as heavy favorite to come out of the AFC every year as the best run franchise, best coach and arguably the best QB in the game. Each is considered arguably the best of all time for chrissakes and he thinks winners are lining up to go to the Jets.

    His jealousy is a delight.

It's preposterous to pretend a 30 year old FA isn't telling his agent to call NE to see what's going on every year, because that's exactly what they do.

Where we have obvious needs and a veteran presence, those agents are making calls into NE, not to the NY Jets.

+1 - add the fact the Pats got all the way to the AFCCG and laid a fat egg with the team they had to finish the season.  After soundly defeating the Colts, how they failed to even come up close in the AFCCG is a head scratcher.  What-iffing does no good at this point.

This is the same example. Same thing.

Now, highly respected cap master and BB buddy, Pat Kirwan, writes a piece that makes a ton of sense, and somehow there is no opportunity to pounce here?

This is the whole point of why managing your cap matters.  This is cap hell. Detroit is in a cap hell!

SUh has Mayhew by the nads for as long as he wants, and a smart GM would eat 2014, take draft picks and move on.

We can do that.  It's just an idea, especially if VInce is down with a cut and resign or redduction with extension.

Mt HUrl is the same dummy who says there is no cap, no cap hell, Seymour was great in 2009 and beyond and we hould have rented him in 2009 and then paid him 14 per in 2010 into a lockout, etc.

    They just don't get it.

Suh has Mayhew by the balls in Detroit. Will Mayhew make the wise move?

The Krapper claims I don't know the cap, but I've just embarrassed him again:

"There has been a lot of media chatter about the Lions being forced to trade Suh. But trading him not only weakens the defense considerably, it doesn’t really alleviate the cap problem. Without renegotiating the final year of his deal, Suh would still count $19.4 million against the cap if they trade or release him.

If you are looking for worst-case scenarios, there it is."

    2014 salary $12.5M bonus $10m cap hit $22.5

    2015 salary 3.5M  bonus $10m  cap hit $13.5M

if the Lions trade Suh now, they already paid him his bonus, so they take the bonus cap hit of $20m...but they save his 2014 and 2015 salaries of $16M...the $16M is assumed by the tean he is traded to....

would you at least make believe you understand the cap?

    2014 salary $12.5M bonus $10m cap hit $22.5

    2015 salary 3.5M  bonus $10m  cap hit $13.5M

if the Lions trade Suh now, they already paid him his bonus, so they take the bonus cap hit of $20m...but they save his 2014 and 2015 salaries of $16M...the $16M is assumed by the tean he is traded to....

    bludgeoned, as usual

Sorry. Please email the writer from the Detroit Free Press writer.  19.2 mil cap hit to Detroit.

Sanchez = 8.25 mil last year

Fitzgerald = 20 mil this year

    RKrap mortified again.

I have to email because you dont understand it?

    once more...slowly

if Suh is traded now, the Lions take a cap hit of $20m ($19.2 as mentioned in the article)...but they save his yearly salaries of $12.5M (2014) and $3.5M (2015). the team he is traded to assumes that $16M unless they extend him (which any team trading for him would)
