With this kind of defense, The Pats won't win another championship.

With the prevent defense, the Pats won't go deep into the play off.  Especially, they will not win another championship.  The DBs are not fast enough to follow the receivers.  They let the Steelers convers 10 of 16 third and long.  I am not a pro football player but I can see the DBs stay 4-5 feets away the opponent receivers.  Therefore, the results were third down completion for the Steelers.  The Steelers offense stay on the field twice times longer than the Pats.  If I can see it on TV, Dick Leb and Mike Tom. could see it easily.  Big Ben has all his time to pick the Pats defensive apart.  There was no pressure in the third down situation.  If BB is not correct this issue, the Pats won't go deep into the playoff as well as first round playoff exits.
The running was disappear yesterday.  How many third down that the Pats converted?  another receivers need to step up for Wes Welker.
In conclusion, If the Pats defense still play like yesterday, they should thinking about making a reservation for the Christmas vacation ahead.
BB is ued to be the defensive guru but now he lost his mojo.

Something needs to change in the coaching and selection of pass defenders when your among the worst in football.

Patriots offense does not score a td untill 2 minutes left in the game if our defense didn't force an interception inside the Pitt 20. These are the facts. Our offense was as terrible or worse then our defense.

35 pass attempts to 6 K-Faulk rushing atts and 5 BJGE atts = one dimensional and playing into the opponents hands.

What happened to the work in progress D all you were talking about at the beginning of the year. I said it then, I'll say it again: this horrible defense (is) will be the end of this team. They need to look at the future and improving this for next year. This year they are done.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: With this kind of defense, The Pats won't win another championship. : Well, the Pats offense didn't do much out of halftime and NE's offense had plenty of tries in the second half. Do you realize that a Guyton INT helps the offense for their only TD AND simultaneously spikes the TOP a bit because NE's D is right out there again? Why is this offense excused from constant 3 and outs? Do you understand this concept? So while the D had a worseday with 3rd down D as compared to at home against NY and Dallas, they still actually kept giving the offense chances to do sometbing to sustain just one drive! You're running out of excuses tryijng to defend a failed McDaniels Base Spread that is a fundamental failure against man cover schemes and good Ds.

constant 3-and-outs?? they only got a couple chances because the defense couldn't get off the field

Did you know how to watch a game?  10 out of 16 third and long that the Steelers converted!!  No pressure in the front four and defensive back 4 steps away from the Steelers wideout. The results are first down Steelers.  Moving the chain and keep going.  Make the Pats offense freezing in the sideline.
    Got it.

[QUOTE]What about the offense? The lone TD in the first half was set up by the defense. So, that means, NE would have scored only 3 points in the first half because the offense can't get a 1st down. Pathetic! If you don't watch the games, please don't comment.  Watching highlights, listening to talking heads try to dramatize giving up 23 points on the road after an anemic offense in the first, half is ridiculous. There is no way I am buying into this anti-BB drama every week.  No way. NE's D was outstanding or at least good for 3 straight weeks prior to this and now the world is ending because they lose a game to a very good Pitt team on the road? Why do some expect the 1985 Bears for 4 qtrs every week? The D wasn't good in the first half, but they were in the 2nd half. The Saints gave up 31 to STl. Dallas gave up 34, Baltimore almost lost at home to Arizona giving up 20+. NE's red zone D kept them in the game and clearly gave this team a chance to win. Can anyone name the last team this team even got a FG out of halftime on that drive? Congrats to the Steelers. They had better intensity. They did exactly what I said: play man coverage and be physical. Yup. The disappointment is yet again seeing Bill O'Brien stand there completely clueless with how to counter it. If you see man, run it or at least run some screens and mix it up. Defenses are just mirroring the flooding the field gameplans and we walk right into it.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: With this kind of defense, The Pats won't win another championship. : Yes, constant 3 and outs or sacks forcing 4th and 30s and a loss of field position. "I don't think we complemented our defense very well," Brady said. "In the first quarter we had an opportunity to answer their score, and you know, we go three-and-out, so there was too many three-and-outs, there's just a poor level of execution all the way around. Individually, we all have to look in the mirror and figure out what we have to do better."

i would say that the defense giving up so many 3rd down conversions or whatever it was infinitely worse

the offense put up 17 points with very limited possessions

the defense stayed on the field for 40 minutes while giving up scores on all but three of their drives.

blame falls squarely on the defense for me.  given enough chances to find their rhythm, the offense eventually did (on the drive where the refs screwed the Pats out of a minute and a half of time by not calling the Gronkowski touchdown a touchdown)

What's wrong with being in last or basically last in every single passing defensive category in a passing league. If very bizarre that teams with great passing D's can slow down the Pats but the Pats basically make any good QB look like they put in a Madden cheat code.

the offense had 8 trips on to the field and one of them was at the opponents 20 yard line because of that pic by guyton...no excuse for not scoring over 23 when they got the ball that many times..they wont win many games being so one dimensional..green-ellis is a good, tough rb, sad the team seems to forget that

In the game I watched the offense didn't get inside the Steelers' 35 yard line until the 4th quarter EXCEPT the time the defense put them there.

You can't defend a pass when you give 10-yards cushion.  A high school quarterback can make plays with that kind of defense.
