Tom Brady, he can't throw a long ball and he can't score points in a playoff game. What a piece of garbage.

Anyone remember Chris Canty?
All to well. Only thing more pathetic than his performance on the field was Bobby Grier's justification for drafting him in the first round.
Bob Kraft shouldn't get a pass on this one either. When asked about the curious selection Kraft informed the media that Canty was a "press corner". That audio was replayed a million times. But Sims was the Pats worst draft pick ever, given the #1 overall selection.

Russell was a terrible pick, not only because he couldn't play, but also because the pick right after him was Megatron and a few picks later was Adrian Peterson.

What about Eugene Chung? lolWasn't that front office ran by the infamous Bobby Grier?
Christ, our front office back then was the like Jets now.

Those were brutal years, front office, ownership, coaching, you name it. Victor Kiam, Sam Jankovich, Dick McPherson, wow. Comical really. Then there was the everpresent threat of the team moving to LA or wherever. The Sullivan years weren't much better, but at least they had a couple of good runs with Fairbanks and then with Berry.

Looking at the past history how can people complain about Belicheck? I do remember when this organization was the joke of the NFL and it was the norm to win 4 games a season. how we have become spoiled and in this day and age of parity in the NFL that the Patriots are perrenially a contender.

Looking at the 1983 draft the Patriots chose Tony Eason over Dan Marino,

The Sullivans, especially the kids, were incompetent buffoons.
Who remembers when Matt Millen smacked his helmet upside Patrick Sullivan's noggin? That was probably the football high point of the Sullivan years and the snot-nosed punk decides to heckle Howie Long on his way out of the stadium. Classy.

dont forget Ken "Gameday" Sims by our Pats #1 overall in 1982.
Man what a bust....Every Scouting Agency had him a 5 of 5 as in can't miss...a sure thing...I knew there was trouble in his first training camp when Brian Holloway dope slapped him around in a scuffle during practice.

I have to say that Sims has suffered a hugely and way out of proportion bad rep. The simple fact is that he had great talents but was not a guy who could line up in any D and do anything. He was totally TOTALLY misued. In this D under BB he would be a standout player though not the pass rusher they want. But even in that he might be an improvement over anyone else inside except for Vinny.Rather than making a list of bad draft picks he is a case of hugely misused talent. On that list he would rank high. One analogy would be to have a WR like Wes Welker forced to play the role of Randy Moss. It doesn't work well at all and you dont get the good things he brings to the game. Another analogy would be using a RB like Sproles to run power plays between the tackles and not outide and not throw to him. It doesnt work because that is not his strength at all.
Sims was MISUSED. Not a bum. Not even a bad pick! Just was not suited to the role the coaches wanted him to play.

Sims actually became a force in '85, then he broke his leg (on a leg whip wasn't it?). It seemed like the light finally went on, then the power went out.

Yup, he got a penalty on the play as well!!Look, number 1 overall......he was a bust. It was an attitude problem and a boy who could not adjust playing with men.

I think it was a case of the coaches being foolish or clueless in how to use a guy with his talents but also his limitations. I do not think it was an attitude problem. And his being a factor in 85 points to the truth in some of that.
