In the Patriots category, I nominate Hart Lee Dykes.
What about Eugene Chung? lol
Christ, our front office back then was the like Jets now.
Those were brutal years, front office, ownership, coaching, you name it. Victor Kiam, Sam Jankovich, Dick McPherson, wow. Comical really. Then there was the everpresent threat of the team moving to LA or wherever.
The Sullivan years weren't much better, but at least they had a couple of good runs with Fairbanks and then with Berry.
I think the Sullivans selling it off and not caring, is a reflection of how they actually ran the franchise the whole time.
Part of the problem with ownership changing hands is WHO the franchise is sold to. That's part of the responsibilty of the seller. From there, a crappy owner like Kiam, let it go to Jankovich and then to Orthwein, etc. Kraft put a stop to it, thank god.
The Sullivans were a hokey family that treated owning the team like it was playing Russian Roulette for a night at a casino.
It was just a random series of moves with no thought behind them for 25 years. And, they were cheap.
Not quite Jeremy Jacobs level, but close.

Didn't Chuck Sullivan mortgage the Team to finance Michael Jackson's "Magical Mystery Tour" that put the the Patriots in financial jeopardy? This led to the Sullivans to having to sell the team? Then Victor Kiam and the mess that followed eventually led to Bob Kraft owning the team.
So I guess we could all thank Chuck Sullivan. :)
