Ray Rice was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round (55th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. The Ravens received the 55th pick in the deal that sent their 38th pick to the Seahawks. Rice signed a 4-year deal with the Ravens worth $2.805 million plus a $1.1 million signing bonus.
The Patriots took Mayo with the #10 pick, forfeited the #31 pick due to Spygate, and took Wheatley with the #62 pick.
After reviewing Rice's career numbers at Rutgers, how on God's green earth could he have been overlooked by so many teams needing a running back, including the Patriots, and dropped to the 55th pick.
Looking back at the 2008 draft and some of the players picked before him, there must be a large number of General Managers just kicking themselves for letting this guy get past them.
