    WR of choice

First let me admit that pre-draft, I was lobbying for Patterson out of Tennessee. I thought at the time he would be outstanding in spite of the naysayers who thought he was 'raw'.  Of course the PATS would have had to trade up in the draft to secure him, but I still like this kid and believe the Titans got a gem at #29.

So, how has your pre-draft choice of WR's done ?????

    8      Tavon Austin                     Rams

    27    DeAndre Hopkins              Texans

    29    Cordarrelle Patterson        Titans

    34    Justin Hunter                   Titans

    41    Robert Woods                   Bills

    59    Aaron Dobson                   Patriots

    74    Terrence Williams            Cowboys

    76    Keenan Allen                    Chargers

    78    Marquis Goodwin              Bills

    79    Markus Wheaton             Steelers

    92    Stedman Bailey                Rams

    101  Ace Sanders                     Jaguars

    102  Josh Boyce                      Patriots

Austin had come alive of late but just got injured. Allen in SD is having a solid season.

Here are the stats from nfl.com:

    Player/catches/yards/TDs

    Austin/40/418/4

    Hopkins/44/707/2

    Patterson/35/395/2

    Hunter/18/354/4

    Woods/31/408/2

    Dobson/35/492/4

    Williams/35/567/5

    Allen/63/931/7

    Goodwin/16/261/3

    Wheaton/6/64/0

    Bailey/8/123/0

    Sanders/39/397/0

    Boyce/5/79/0

I'd say Allen has shown up the best thus far.  Dobson in in the next group though he might have led the rookie WRs if he had stayed on the field.  He is definitely a keeper after showing improvements in making those catches he used to drop and in route running.

Patterson plays for the Vikings...just fyi.

I liked DeAndre Hopkins, Robert Woods, Aaron Dobson, and Keenan Allen (to an extent) going into the draft. I loved Hopkins, but figured he would be picked before the Pats had a chance to take him.

I liked when they took Dobson, and so far he has shown improvement despite a couple health issues. Woods was doing pretty well before Manuel got hurt (I know he is back but his number were hurt when he left).

Obviously, Keenan Allen has been a stud...however I do not think anyone saw him emerging as a major receiver this early.

Ace Sanders has come on very well lately. Gets a bit lost down there in Jacksonville, but if they can get an actual QB in the draft that passing game might be some fun.

They wouldn't have had to trade up for Patterson, Minnesota took him with the Pats' pick. Would be interesting to see how Patterson would be doing with Brady as his QB instead of the trash they have in Minny. He's a pretty good kick returner too.

Keenan Allen has been very good this year, lot of mocks had him coming to NE.

    Re: WR of choice

I liked Patterson, Hunter, then Dobson. I thought NE needed a WR, and I wanted them to grab one with size.

I'm happy with Dobson so far, though Patterson looks like a keeper too.

I think Dobson had the biggest boom/bust factor of the three.

I can't wait to see what he is doing a year or two from now ... but short term, I think NE has to leverage him as an endzone threat now that Gronk is on the shelf again.

The Pats did not have to trade up to take Patterson.  The Vikes took him with the pick traded from the Pats (29).

For the record, I wanted the Pats to stand at #29 and take Alec Ogletree.

    Re: WR of choice

The Pats got value with their selections and I believe they'll be around for a while.  After Austin I thought the WRs pretty much graded out evenly.  My only hope at the time was the Pats drafting one out of the crowd.

From that list I liked Hunter and Allen not on the list I liked Marquess Wilson. This draft looks like it's going to be a very solid WR draft with a number of good players coming out

This draft didn`t have a Calvin Johnson or Julio Jones, but it`s a very good class of wr.
