Excellent thread.  The Pats have the best red zone defense in the NFL.  Eli better pray he hits on some bombs cause they ain't scoring inside the 20.

They might not, but they're getting there.  That's what's great about it. If the giants d fades with some high mobility pats attack, but the pats zone d tightens up in the red zone and suffocates the giants pass attack, Wilfork and company will squash whoever has or gets the ball.

Just can't overlook it I can see Eli going down the field then hit a brick wall at the 20

Re: X-FACTOR: PATS RED ZONE D

The Pats redzone defense was 17th. They've played better at around 50% down the stretch, which would be 12th.

Not terrible, but not the best in the league.

I'd rather they don't let the opponents move the ball. Giving up yards means giving up field position, something that was huge the last time they played the Giants and had to start every first half drive but on inside their own 17 yard line. And five of them inside their own 11.

It is going to take redzone defense, but also 3 & outs, tackles-for-a-loss, and solid return game play to keep the offense from playing inside a hole where they have to choke up on their play calling.
