    Young LB's making PLAYS!!!

Nincovich...excellent job not overpursuing and keeping contain on those Ray Rice cutbacks.

Cunningham...a couple of excellent pass rushes in the first half, with one culminating in a strip of Flacco.

Fletcher...excellent open field shoe-string tackle on Rice in the 4th quarter, preventing a first down pickup.

Crable...yes, that's Shawn Crable. I had to look up number 98 on the Pats roster because I didn't know who he was. Anyway, Crable showed incredible closing speed on chasing Flacco to the sidelines on a critical 3rd-and-5 late in the game.  For his size, Crable has got to be one of the fastest players in the league. Let's hope he can finally stay healthy.

I've watching Nin since the end of last season and thought he'd have a good shot at being a starter but he's played better then I've expected.

Cunningham has been looking better and better with every game. Now I love Nin but if we could get a rushing specialist to go next the Cuningham wow we'd have a pass rush again

Don't forget that personal Foul penalty that Cunningham drew. That was a big play in itself. This kid is a stud and I can't wait to see him develop.

What concerns me is  that TBC was a no show again today.  Half the time he couldn't get off the line.

    Re: Young LB's making PLAYS!!!

The Pats need to a very good pass rushing DL. If that PATS can get that in the draft, this defense is going to be VERY VERY good.

You put a pass rushing DL opposite Cunningham with Wilfork, Mayo, Spikes, Chung, and McCourty.....thats an all star cast folks.

This team might not win the SB (although there are NO dominant teams this year), but they are setting themselves up to be one of the great defenses of the decade in the years to come with the corp they got now. We just need that pash rusher opposite Cunningham. Cunningham will play the weak side and will cause fits if he has a pass rusher opposite him.

TBC didn't play good at all. It's safe to say that Cunningham already looks better than him. I'm looking forward to Mike reiss' snap breakdown on defense to see how many plays he got in on.

Surely BB has a reason he is benching TBC, but I wouldn't go as far to say Cunningham is playing on a higher level. He may be more talented but TBC is probably more consistent.... even though he didn't start!!! Anyway I hope JC becomes the J.C of our defense. Even though we ended up with 3 sacks we  had minimal pressure throughout the game...

Who the hell is Fletcher? Couldn't beleive this guy was in the game so late, but he did well.

Cunningham looked good and I was surprised at that because he's young, He really benifited from the Ravens style of passing game, a lot of deep drops and him taking the rush wide outside, landing right at Flaco.

Tully is starting to make me wonder if he took the money and ran. He did it in San Fran and he's done nothing this year...nothing. You don't go from being the best front seven pass rusher we had, to this. He was a character risk in college as well, hope that he's not going to pull this crap all year.

Mike Oher was struggling with cunningham today, great to see!  If we can develop a consistent pass rush, everything else will fall into place with the D

Also happy with the steady play of Nincovich

Dane Fletcher has been an underdog favorite of mine.  He came from a small school, so there is not much info on him but he seems to have a great tool set.  I was hoping he could make the switch to the outside but I guess he is not guite big enough.  I think we can expect to see more of Dane Fletcher that is a good thing.

Great game by Cunningham against a very solid Tackle in Michael Oher.  Spikes mad a few good run stuffs to.  Deaderick also played well, picking up a sack and earning the start today.

Fletcher did an awesome job late in the game covering pass targets out of the backfield. Wondering why Spikes or Guyton weren't in there. Mayo, Cunningham and Ninkovich really played well.

Yup, titletown, Spikes played well in stretches, and Deaderick held his ground. I could be wrong, but I don't remember Ray Rice having a run of more than 10 yards today. That, in itself, is amazing.

It looked like BB was changing lines in the NHL with the LB substitutions...it will be interesting who hits the field and plays 3 downs against the hurry-up Offenses.

Fletcher is another of B.B.'s undrafted rookies and you are right,he showed well.Wait until he adds another 10-12 pounds this off-season.He is smart and tough and technically sound with a great motor.Woodhead has fabulous vision,a very quick first step, good moves in traffic, quick coming out of breaks, fast,is tougher than you would expect at his size,a willing blocker(though he needs some technique work)and wonderful hands.who knew?B.B.that's who.would you believe Branch today?I'm beginning to feel he and Tom have a permanent mind meld.Quick note...I think Cunningham and Deadrick are going to be outstanding.Imagine where Cunningham would be at today if he hadn't missed most of training camp.

    Re: Young LB's making PLAYS!!!

yup no doubt about it, cunningham had a big impact on this game. he has been making steady strides since missing training camp and this was his first impact game. i think he will continue to build on that. spikes was also very active in this game and i think he will continue to make big strides each week. fletcher is a very interesting prospect...and i had a good feeling about deaderick since the day we drafted him. i wonder if the fact that he has surpassed brace on the depth chart is more a factor of him playing well or brace taking another step back.

Amazing game by our young linebackers and defense as a whole, we held them in the 4th, we held them in overtime...  great fun to watch, the offense was stressing me out but the D made me proud.

For me the big story yesterday is the defense.  The coaches seem to be making the right adjustments and the players are getting it done.  They were finally able to start gettingoff the field on third down.  I'm liking it.  Beautiful game.  Hope there's mote to come.

I wish the offense could score on every possession and I do not believe there's a Patriots fan out there that doesn't share that sentiment. But the reality is it's not going to happen. The players on the other side, playing against us get paid to play as well. The ravens' D scares me more than any defense in the league. Not even the 07 offense could light it up against them when we played them in Baltimore back in 07. We had to come back to win that game. Thus, it will be absurd of anyone to think that you are going to score a lot of points against that defense. Unlike the jets' D, they don't even need to blitz to pressure the QB.

All Shawn Crable haters can suk it! He actually demands double coverage when he's on the field.

Stay healthy, Shawn! I want to serve some humble pie at the end of the season to the Shawn Disable club. =D

Well, it's too soon to put him in the HOF, as Parcells would say. But he was effective when he got the call yesterday.

I'm really pulling for him. He's had a tough start to his career, and it's easy for fans to get all over a guy, calling him "brittle." But professional football is a tough way to make a living, and injuries can happen to any player on any down. I give him props for being humble enough to survive being cut...making it back to the practice squad...making it back to the 53...and finally making it onto the field with the 45. Shows some character, when a lot of 3rd round picks would have hung them up rather than earning a spot the hard way.

    Re: Young LB's making PLAYS!!!

i wouldnt exactly say crable demanded a double team...it was more a case of most of his plays being part of a 3 or 4 man rush against 6 blockers, so it was a double team by default. but it was interesting to see him out there a bit. he certainly has the size and the speed. if he can start to put things together and contribute to the defense, that is a huge plus because at this point everyone was expecting zero. i wonder if he will be implemented more and more into the game plans...

    Re: Young LB's making PLAYS!!!

Liked the play by Cunningham, Dane Fletcher (surprise), Guyton in coverage, Mayo, and Spikes, and Nin.  THese guys are young and they are coming along.  What the D still lacks, however, is a young Richard Seymour type- and we need to nail that with the Oakland pick in the next draft.  This is sure to be a top 5 pick!
