On Fleener, he's no Gronk.  If anything the Pats are looking for a blocking TE and he ain't it.  Going into the draft over rated IMHO.

Perry won't be there and I don't expect Mercilus and Brockers to be there either otherwise I would take any of these guys over Worthy.

Sanu is slow out of the blocks.  NFL corners can stuff him off the line rather easily.

In Response to Re: YOUR First 3 Picks : i think they are just fine this year with lloyd, welker, hernandez and gronk. enough talent on offense, its the defense that needs to be overhauled. if the pats had an "average" defense last year they could of won it all. they only lost 2 games with a atrocious defense last year, fix that up this year, and work on wideouts and o-lineman(center) next year via free agency/draft! dont give up on ras-i-dowling, he is a playmaker.
    Posted by isurfvb24

i havent given up on dowling. i picked him predraft and wathced him play without camp solid at cb and better than any other on the team

there wont be 40 wr drafted next year.

our de could get better and we can still lose.

if we have a fleener or jeffery, if gronk or hern goes down it wont matter. if the de alllows the other team to score we will be able to keep up and overcome.

we need to get better onde and with all the picks we can. we need strategic picks on o too.

thats the opinion i have of sanu as well.
    i want jeffery.
check all the top evaluators of the draft for their top 30 players out this year
fleener is in the top 10 of many.
hes not gronk, but hes capable of being dominant.

i too expect brockers and mercilus gone.
    thanks for clarifying

I have liked Fleener for a very long time, but can't see BB doing this as much as I would like it, it now is perhaps a luxury pick. This should be a defensive focused draft, at least in the early rounds... 1 of McClellin//branch/curry to play de/olb Wolfe to play de/DT Trumaine Johnson is my cb pick convert to fs...

Fleener is a TE. We have 3 TE's on the roster, with possibly two of them Pro-Bowlers. Unless we convert him to WR, we have bigger needs.
    Posted by bgomez

Fleener has better speed than Sanu and Alshon in a bigger body with better blocking skill, so if we are looking for a big WR he is certainly an option. It would certainly be an interesting offense with Fleener, Gonzo, Hernandez, and Welker/Lloyd on the field. Put them all out there with AH in the backfield, or drop Welker or Lloyd and put a RB in the backfield. Lots of blocking beef for a run, but also great receivers.
Not going to happen but ... I got to believe BB has thought about it.
    My top 3:
    McClellin, Smith, Reyes/Wolfe

My first three picks? Assuming we stay put at #27, #31 and #48...

    #27: Courtney Upshaw
    #31: Whitney Mercilus
    #48: Harrison Smith

Finally get some talent at LB/DE and grab the second best Safety in this draft.

    #27 - traded
    #31 - traded
2nd rounder higher than 48 as a result of one of the above trades - either Shea McClellin, Devon Still or Kevin Zeitler

Yeah, I know all 3 are likely 1st rounders but there is always slippage.

Chris Polk is a guy to watch in this draft. He is second round talent and is projected to go in the third or fourth round. The Pats should take a flyer on him.

how about devon still at 27 and derek wolfe at 31? how many 3-4 DEs are on the roster right now? BB could take advantage of all the big bodies in this draft and get back to his 3-4. Still Wilfork Wolfe ... would be tough to run against that Dline. 27. Still 31. Wolfe 48. ronnell lewis
