Schilling, P.J. Martinez, Clemens all wanted the ball and relished that fact of going against the opposing team NUMBER 1...I thought Lester could be that guy...verdict still out....under advisement...

Allowing 11 HR's in the very 1st series of 2011 is full worthy of recognition. Tain't easy. Congrats are also due for Carl Crawford. The man put together the first 2 hits for the 7,8,9 positions in the Sox loaded lineup, thus RAISING the avg. ALL THE WAY to a lusty .0666 for the bottom 3rd. Again, tain't easy.

As bad as Hughes line was, it was matter of 2 pitches in 2 different 2 strike counts against Miguel Cabrera, whom many consider 1 of the top 2 or 3 best hitters in the game, if not the very best, that cost him 4 runs. Seeing as how Vmart wasn't in sync this past weekend, it's hard to understand why the Yankees didn't pitch around Cabrera.

There is no doubt that the Sox have plenty of talent.

They also have a decent amount of question marks, much like other teams.

Believe you me, after months of talk where a team that totally missed out on postseason play last year was declared as overwhelming favorites, I thoroughly enjoyed this past weekend.

The headlines on ESPN today have been fun too:

    Mark Teixeira and Ryan Howard

    Power Brokers

The Yanks and Phils have swung the bats with authority. Which one grabbed the top spot in our first rankings of 2011?

(Why no Rangers pictured after they beat the preseason overwhelming favorites to a pulp?)

    Nation Of Panic

The Red Sox are 0-3. Are folks already worried? Of course they are. After all, it is Boston we're talking about. David Schoenfield »Pedroia: 'We're all frustrated'

Will enjoy the heck out of tonight with the Yankee game on ESPN, and the Conn./Butler matchup.

That said, the Sox getting hammered on the way to a sweep was a sweet start for a lifetime Yankee fan from Mass. Yes, there is long season ahead, and the Sox should prove to be a force to reckon with.

I promise to slow way down in my posting. I have been stuck at the computer all day waiting on some business updates.

Will be checking in every now and then all season long, win or loss.

    Looking forward to next weekend.

    The games have begun.

    Posted by nhsteven

    I can, and I did.

On the very 1st weekend of ball, with an arm not up to full speed, Hughes went after a great hitter twice, and the great hitter got to him both times.

Colon's 1st time out doesn't look that bad to me. Not happy to see him allow a 2 run homerun before getting an out, but then he righted himself pretty decently:

    M Cabrera struck out looking.74
    V Martinez struck out swinging.74
R Raburn reached on infield single to shortstop.74
    D Kelly struck out looking.74

    His final 2 innings:

Bartolo Colon pitching for New YorkDETNYY
V Martinez grounded out to first.96
    R Raburn struck out looking.96
D Kelly lined out to center.96
Bartolo Colon pitching for New YorkDETNYY
J Peralta reached on infield single to shortstop.97
B Inge grounded into fielder's choice to third, J Peralta out at second.97
    A Jackson struck out looking.97
R Santiago lined out to left.97

" I will persist, win or lose." No you won't. I guarantee you if the Yankees have a rough season and wind up totally out of playoff contention you will be nowhere to be found. I know your type, you're the Internet bullypunk who tries to dress that up a bit in a few stats but what you live for is deriving self esteem from others misfortunes.  I have never posted in a Yankee forum and that one fact puts me on a level you can never aspire to. Have fun in the muck.

Well said. I also have never posted on a Yankee forum because it's pointless, and you're also right that none of these guys will be anywhere to be found if the Yankees fall apart. All of this is RIDICULOUS when only three games have been played. The Orioles are now 4-0, which is better than the Yankees 3-1. How come we aren't crowing THEM champions now? It's all stupid, talk to us after 162.
