Granderson does not hit for average not to mention he strikes out a ton and his stealing % is quite poor

Although I agree that he is the MVP, Jacoby Ellsbury is the best 5-tool player in the game. Curtis Granderson only has 4 tools.

Jacoby has no arm. Curtis Granderson does. That makes Ellsbury a four tool player if you know the players and what they actually do between the lines. Until this year, Ellsbury was a 3 tool player who could run, catch and hit for average. His power surge was surprising to most which added the 4th tool.

Right now, Granderson is the MVP but not by much.

His contract is rather club-friendly as well. The trade with the Tigers has worked out very well for them.

You forgot Runs Scored; I still think (so far, despite the recent power outage) it's AGon, with CG close behind, followed by Verlander, Bautista, Ells, Mig Cabrera, Pedroia, Young, and Ads Cabrera

BA is too low, sorry ... nobody with a BA that low has won in the last 40+ years. Again, if it was just HRs then Dunn would have won a bunch. Granderson is like Dunn. A minus UZR player who just swings for the fences all the time.

Agreed. If you hit under .295 your odds for an MVP are 0. Curtis needs to stop swinging for the fences every at bat and play some team ball.

Granderson wins AL MVP, Red Sox win AL pennant, I'll take the latter any day as I am sure the sox players would as well.

LOL...I guess leading the majors in both RBI's and Runs Scored is not "team ball"?
And ryan howard finished second to pujols in the voting a few years back with a .251 BA.
Roger Maris won the MVP with a .267 BA

In Response to Re: Curtis Granderson will be the AL MVP : LOL...then how come agon hasn't been hitting a "single or whatever to get a run in"? He's in more than a slump, he has not been getting it done since the break, maybe the pressure has made him wilt. And it's the MVP award, not the highest batting average award. The MVP is the guy who makes the biggest contribution to his team, and right now it's Granderson.

Like I said, nobody wins it with that low a BA or with that low a WAR. Granderson has had a fine year, but as ESPN and most other sites agree, he just isn't as valuable as you Yankee dreamers wish.

Yeah he's not playing "team ball" by leading the league in runs, rbi's, triples and total bases.

So you think a number 3 hitter who is hitting .314 since the break but has only managed to drive in 16 RBI's and score 17 runs since the break should win?

Of course he will be, Jeter has been in the offices of MLB ( under every desk he can get under) ensuring the votes of everyone he thinks may help.
