Re: Red Sox want to trade Josh Beckett

Well, I just hope that Boston do not have to eat  up too much of his salary cuz if they do, that mean they will need to find a replacement pitcher to take his spot.  That mean Garza, Dempster, Johnson, etc who are all making over 10 millions dollars this year.  If that is the case, Boston could be paying for the total of 20 millions dollars if they makes these kind of move!!

That is why I dont think that it will work out for Boston if they want to trade him.

Trading Beckett is addition by subtraction.  I dont care if they pay all of his salary.  His attitude is poison to the team.  Garza, Dempster, and Johnson are not answers for the sox who can easily move Franklin Morales back into the rotation and then have Andrew Bailey come off the DL to replace him in the bullpen.  Dont give up the prospects who are our future for a middle of the road pitcher.

    Our Future:
Pedro Ciriaco (SS, 2B, or Utility Infielder)
    Ryan Kalish (RF)
    Daniel Nava (back up outfielder)
    Jackie Bradley Jr. (CF)
Ryan Lavarnway (DH/Backup Catcher/should learn 1B to be a backup)
Jose Iglesias (SS) great defensively, weak hitter
    Xander Bogaerts (SS) tremendous hitter
    Matt Barnes (SP)
    Anthony Ranaudo (SP)

    Mixed with...
    Clay Buchholz (SP)
    Jon Lester (SP)
    Felix Doubront (SP)
    John Lackey (SP)
    Andrian Gonzalez (1B)
    Jarrod Saltalamachia (C)
    Dustin Pedroia (2B)
    Carl Crawford (LF)

Now thats a pretty good team.

In Response to Red Sox want to trade Josh Beckett:
[QUOTE]by Jeff Passan Yahoo Sports The dysfunctional 2012 Boston Red Sox are trying to rid themselves of a major piece of their 2011 meltdown: Josh Beckett. Boston officials have placed calls to teams including Texas and Atlanta within the last two days gauging interest in the right-hander, multiple major-league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday. While no deal is imminent, Boston has indicated it is willing to eat money on the remaining two-plus years and approximately $37.3 million of Beckett's contract to facilitate a trade, the sources said.

If that's true, the trade partner would suffer subtraction by addition.

    The math is simple.

Re: Red Sox want to trade Josh Beckett

Beckett is not our worst starter. Paying him to play elsewhere is worse than paying Youk to play for the White Sox while Middlebrooks, AGon, and now Papi lost time.

Pitchers rarely regain lost velocity, but they do sometimes recreate themselves with other pitches. This sometimes takes time.

Selling players when their stock is low, is usually not good baseball.

Great read. I particularfly liked the part about trading for a starter that moves the other starters down a notch and lines you up better for the playoffs.

(Remember, we may need to win the wild card play-in game and then start the next series the next day.)

...and, when Beckett does great with the Braves, will fans blame our clubhouse for Beckett's poor recent numbers here?

Maybe the problem is our actual clubhouse, not the nplayers who are there from time to time. (LOL)
