They probably feel the more the merrier. Unless it's confusing to the players, what's the harm?

Also, having one for all different types of hitters really might make less sense.

    heck SP777

I just thought, as usual, you were being profound

as in having a mgr who was a PC

and how that effects the role of the PC

as far as 2 hitting coaches go

it could work, as long as neither has any ego issues

    could be interesting

''It wont let me edit the title. How dumb is that?''

yeah but they have made great progress with the adds

    Hey Zac,

It would actually be an assistant hitting coach. I think its a good idea.

They do have two pitching coaches anyway, one on the bench and other one in the bullpen.

    Re: 2 pitching coaches???

I have no problem with either two hitting coaches or even two pitching coaches at the major league level.

Also, I have always wondered why (if they don't) the Red Sox do not have a full time hitting, pitching coach, infield coach and outfield coach with each of their minor league teams.  It would seem that with such a full complement of teaching coaches at each level that there are would be lots of extra instruction for every position all season long.

A full time coordinator in each area should be used to keep all of the coaches on the same page throughout the total program.  The Sox could pay all of these extra coaches just off the beer sales in section 31.

The logic here is crystal clear. Why didn't anyone think of this sooner? One for LH'ers and one for RH'ers. This could undo the flustercluck in our pitching program.

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- The Boston Red Sox are considering former New York Yankees first baseman Tino Martinez for the vacant position of hitting coach, according to an industry source.

The source indicated that the Red Sox have had preliminary talks with the 16-year big league veteran. Red Sox manager John Farrell said Wednesday that he would begin interviewing possible candidates this weekend in hopes of naming a hitting coach by the end of next week.
