    Rawlings announces Gold Glove award finalists ....5 finalists are in the WS Cool

    The Orioles lead all teams with six finalists, followed by the Dodgers and Royals, who each have five finalists.


    Rawlings announced the finalists for the Gold Glove awards on Friday, narrowing the list down to three players at each position per league.

    The Baltimore Orioles lead the American League with six finalists, followed by the Kansas City Royals with five. The entire Tampa Bay Rays infield is up for a Gold Glove, while the Blue Jays employ two of the three finalists for the pitcher award. Let's take a look at the AL Finalists:

    Catcher

    Joe Mauer - Twins
    Salvador Perez - Royals
    Matt Wieters - Orioles

    First Base

    Chris Davis - Orioles
    Eric Hosmer - Royals
    James Loney - Rays

    Second Base

    Robinson Cano - Yankees
    Dustin Pedroia - Red Sox
    Ben Zobrist - Rays

    Third Base

    Adrian Beltre - Rangers
    Evan Longoria - Rays
    Manny Machado - Orioles

    Shortstop

    Alcides Escobar - Royals
    Yunel Escobar - Rays
    J.J. Hardy - Orioles

    Left Field

    Yoenis Cespedes - Athletics
    Andy Dirks - Tigers
    Alex Gordon - Royals

    Center Field

    Lorenzo Cain - Royals

    The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the National League with five finalists, followed by three teams with three finalists: the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The full list of NL Finalists is below:

    Rawlings will announce the award winners on Tues, Oct. 29 during a special presentation of Baseball Tonight. Coverage of the award ceremony begins at 8 p.m. ET with ESPN2 carrying the event

    So does this mean the Gold Glove has finally decided that LF, CF and RF are 3 different positions?  And are not all covered under one big "OF" label?

     

    I know they have been giving the award to corner OF lately, but I think that was more of a coincidence....
