    21 Games for Matt Albers

    Here's a look at Matt's numbers in 22 games:

    2-3  3.08  1.291 WHIP
    26.1 IP  9 ERs  23 H  25K  11 BB

On the surface, these numbers do not look too impressive, but Matt has done a fine job for the Sox this year.

He has 22 appearances. Only three have been less than 1 IP, so ERA is more meaningful for this relief pitcher than several others who pitch 1/3 inning and 2/3 innings a lot.

He has 17 games with no ERs allowed.

4 games he has 1 ER allowed, but 2 of them were with 1.2 or 2 IP.

He has only walked 2 hitters once.

If you take away the one bad game that he walked 2 and let up 3 hits and 5 ERs, his numbers in the other 21 appearances would look like this:

    26.1 IP  4 ERS  20 H  9BB  25K
    1.37 ERA    1.101 WHIP

Overall he has been one of Theos solid pickups IMO..Besides that one bad outing, Albers has been very dependable..Good post Moon..Gotta give praise to those that deserve it, and MA deserves it so far..

he brings value in being able to pitch multiple innings in back-to-back games...brother could shed a few lbs.

Agree with OP.  He has decent stuff, good control, and a good temperament.

With releivers it is often "hit or miss". That shows the advantage of loading up and hoping a select few come through each year.

Nice low end guy.  You get those #5/6 guys that are there to get abused without blowing the game.
