BTW, Bauer has always been regarded as an iconoclast but so was Lincecum. I would rule the guy out yet. He has super stuff.

According to Bill James, JBJ might be a better option against RH pitching right now than Gomes or Victorino:

Almost anybody is.vs RHPs:
Victorino .625 in 2012, .788 in 2011, and .684 in 2010.
Gomes .715 in 2012, .654 in 2011, and .709 in 2010.
Is Sweeney or Nava that much better?
Sweeney .713, .743, and .754
Nava .768 (career)
I don't think JBJ will make the big club unless he is expected to play nearly everyday. I guess he could play vs all RHPs and rest Ellsbury a few games in CF vs LHPs, but I doubt it happens this year.

I'm not trying to be a donny downer here....but once upon a time Lars Anderson was ranked in the top 20 by BA.
Lets hope it's the Yankees prospects that are busts.
Jackie Bradley is ranked 31. I once bought a pair of cleats in a sporting goods store from a guy who was once ranked 32.So yes, anything can happen and theris no such thing as a "can't miss" prospect... I

This might actually be the strongest farm system the Sox have had in a long time. I could be wrong, but I do not think the Sox have ever had 4 of the top 50 in BA's rankings, which only go back to 1990, but that is far enough to make the point...Very encouraging. I hope it is not like Pesky comparing Jacoby to Teddy.

Abraham is saying that he touched 99 and was consistently 94 - 97. If he can throw strikes he could be a good one. -

I didnt think his arm was that live..99MPH, AND he struck out 4 of their regulars. So much for LAD "farm scraps" ...I know its Game 1 of ST, but you have to like what we've seen so far from Webster and DLR. -

Top starting pitching prospects who can touch 100, and have good secondary stuff, are worth a fortune. They are so difficult to obtain and we have several now who could emerge as solid, low cost starters for us going forward.

Like I have been saying, I loved the Dodger trade even without the prospects, but DLR & Webster are really elevating the trade to super duper status. -

I think Wright could be a regular in the rotation at some point.
Also, Webster will probably be more in the 94-96 range, not 99. Im sure he was just letting it fly knowing he only has 2 frames to pitch. Stiil, his stuff is iompressive.

Wright will be 29 this August, but with knuckleballers, he still could have 15 good seasons in him!
